    • A servo control apparatus controls operation of a to-be-controlled object through execution of software based on control data and reference data. An operation-signal generating portion generates an operation signal having a frequency representing the operation of the to-be-controlled object. A clock-signal generating portion generates a clock signal having a frequency controlled in accordance with the control data. A counting portion measures a time corresponding to the period of the operation-pulse signal by counting pulses of the clock signal, and generates a count value. A controlling portion controls the operation of the to-be-controlled object through execution of software based on the count value and the reference data.

    • A tape player which is reduced in number of parts to permit the space on a head base to be utilized effectively and easy to assemble. The tape player comprises a pinch roller shaft secured to a head base, and a torsion coil spring interposed between the head base and a slide base for urging the head base toward a reel base. When the slide base is moved toward the reel base, the head base is moved in the same direction by way of the torsion coil spring. When the slide base is further moved after stopping of the head base with the pinch roller contacted with a capstan, the torsion coil spring is compressed thereby to resiliently contact the pinch roller with the capstan with a tape held therebetween. The slide base has first and second guide elements formed thereon. The first guide element is fitted in a first guide slot formed in the head base to guide the head base for sliding movement on the slide base. The second guide element is fitted in a second guide slot formed in a chassis to guide the slide base for sliding movement on the chassis.

    • A head plate operating mechanism for a cassette tape player has a head plate carrying a magnetic head and movably mounted on a frame for movement between non-play and play positions. A power-assisting notched gear having a crank pin on a rotation surface thereof rotates when a tape cassette is loaded into the player. A slide member movably connected to the head plate is actuated to move by slidably contacting with the crank pin of the rotating notched gear and restrains the head plate in its non-play position when the slide member is in its non-actuated state but releases the head plate so as to allow the movement of the head plate between the non-play and play positions when the slide member has been actuated by the crank pin. A locking mechanism releasably locks the slide member in its actuated state, and a control member connected to the head plate is actuated by slidably contacting with the crank pin of the rotating notched gear so as to effect displacement of the head plate from the non-play position to the play position with a time lag after the slide member has been actuated by the crank pin and locked in its actuated state by the locking mechanism.

    • A telephone answering machine produces a prerecorded reply message in response to detection of a calling signal from a caller and thereafter records a message of a caller in response to completion of the reproduction of the reply message. The telephone answering machine includes first and second tape drive mechanism. The first tape drive mechanism is used for running a first magnetic tape on which the reply message of a called party is prerecorded. The second tape drive mechanism is used for running a second magnetic tape on which a message of a caller is to be recorded. The first and second tape drive mechanisms are controlled by a single common operation control mechanism. The operation control mechanism includes a movable head plate on which first and second pinch-rollers of the tape drive mechanisms are mounted, and a cam gear which has first and second drive cam grooves to control the movement of the head plate in two different directions. When the first drive cam groove controls the movement of the head plate, the first pinch-roller only contacts a corresponding capstan to run the first magnetic tape for reproduction of the reply message. When the second drive cam groove controls the movement of the head plate, the second pinch-roller only contacts a corresponding capstan to run the second magnetic tape for recording of a caller's message.
