    • A carburetor includes a body having a fuel and air mixing passage formed therein and an opening in fluid communication with the fuel and air mixing passage, a fuel metering assembly carried by the body and including a fuel metering diaphragm that defines at least part of a fuel chamber that is communicated with the opening, and a groove formed in the body and open to the fuel chamber. The groove communicates at one end with the opening so that fuel vapor in the groove can be moved from the fuel chamber to the fuel and air mixing passage via the groove and opening. The groove is preferably provided at least in part in a peripheral portion of the fuel chamber to guide vapor to a fuel jet as the fuel vapor moves within the fuel chamber.

    • A fuel processing device (2) is provided that produces fuel aerosol particles (5) that when mixed with combustion air, reduces or eliminates detonation (knock) in internal combustion engines, reducing fuel octane requirements and improving burning characteristics of the fuel. The device includes an adapter (10) between fuel injector (12) and port (14) for the fuel injector, the adapter being of a hollow cylindrical configuration. A plurality of plates (46) are disposed in the adapter, plates (46) provided with a central opening (50), with radially extending slots (52) extending away from the central opening (50). Each slot has one edge configured with a vane (56) that creates turbulence in the air/fuel mix passing through the adapter so that larger droplets are broken up into smaller droplets until an optimum droplet size is reached.

    • A rotary throttle valve carburetor for a two cycle engine reroutes a portion of intake air and introduces the air around the circumference of a fuel feed tube. A rotary throttle, rotatable and vertically moveable, fits into a cylindrical chamber intersecting an air intake channel through a carburetor body. A needle supported by the rotary throttle fits into the fuel feed tube which extends from a fuel metering chamber within the carburetor body into a throttling bore extending laterally through the rotary throttle. An intake portion of the air intake channel expands conically toward an upstream side. An air guide tube is aligned co-axially and radially outward from a fuel feed tube forming an air passageway there between. The intake air portion flows through the air passage from the intake portion of the air intake channel and into a bottom space of the cylindrical chamber beneath the rotary throttle. From the bottom space, the air flows through the passageway transversely into a fuel stream emitted from a fuel jet orifice of the fuel feed tube. Excessive fuel flow is thereby controlled and fuel vaporization is promoted, resulting in improved fuel burn efficiency and a reduction of exhaust emissions.

    • A system for providing an air-fuel vapor mixture to an engine for improving completeness of combustion and also reducing emissions. The system includes a vaporizer within which a series of baffles are disposed such that air and fuel pass along a tortuous passageway defined within the vaporizer. Exhaust gases provide heat to the vaporizer, and as air and fuel pass along the passageway of the vaporizer, a homogenous air-fuel vapor mixture is produced, with the homogenous mixture exiting the vaporizer being supplied to the engine by way of an adapter plate assembly. When used with a carburetor, the adapter plate is disposed between the carburetor and the engine.

    • A vaporizer chamber includes a coil therein, the coil having extensions extending into the exhaust pipe of the engine, the exhaust gases passing through the coil and heating the interior of the chamber. Fuel is delivered to the vaporizer chamber, and vaporized there when the exhaust gases are heated. A thermostat unit is mounted on the exhaust pipe, and when heated, shifts a valve to direct the fuel to the vaporizer chamber, instead of to the carburetor. This shifting is gradual. A throttle controls the flow of vaporized fuel to the outlet of the carburetor. The usual accelerator pedal is operative for controlling the throttle for the vaporized fuel in unison with the usual throttle provided in the carburetor. When starting the engine cold, it is fed atomized fuel from the carburetor, and when the engine warms up, the fuel to the carburetor is reduced, and that to the vaporizer chamber is increased, until only vaporized fuel is so fed, and in each case the delivery of fuel to the engine is controlled by the corresponding throttle in response to actuation of the same accelerator pedal.
