摘要： An expendable flame tip for a gas-fired torch is made separable from the gas-mixing rear portion whereby a series of different size tips may be used with a single-mixed portion and only the front end of the torch need be replaced in the event of damage to the tip. The tip portion is formed from two tubular members by inserting one such tubular member within the other and swaging them together (over mandrels if desired). The torch tip is thus manufactured without the need of the now used expensive drilling operations as the gas passageways are formed by grooves formed in the tubular members.

摘要： The blow gun comprises a hollow body having an inlet for compressed air at one end of the body. A tube extending from the other end of the body has a closed end mounted to swivel in the body, and has a radial port leading from the interior to the exterior of the tube adjacent to the closed end of the tube. A cap carried by the closed end of the tube is radially spaced from the periphery of the tube and shrouds the port. A seal is located in the body, surrounding the tube, on which the cap normally seats to prevent air from entering the port, but from which one side of the cap can be separated by swinging the tube out of axial alignment with the body, to admit air to the port. A nozzle fixed on the outer end of the tube has a Venturi passage extending outward from the tube, the inner end of such passage being radially spaced from the tube and having ports arranged laterally of the tube which act as inlets when air is discharged through the nozzle and as outlets when the nozzle is obstructed. A plurality of radial vanes on the periphery of the nozzle extend from the inner ends of the lateral ports substantially beyond the outer end thereof.

摘要： Insect pestilence is suppressed in a given area by limited injections of insecticide fogging spray at certain occasions of change of wind direction therein and essentially at no other time and in very high dilution and fineness of dispersion of droplets of carrier liquid seeded with micro-particles of insecticide. The method is preferably practiced automatically through the use of apparatus comprising interconnected wind responsive switching means, spray nozzle and valve means, carrier source means, insecticide source means and timing means. The timing means preferably afford time delay of 10-100 seconds before automatically terminating insecticide fogging and after a much longer preselected time interval, on the order of 10 to 100 hours, automatically reset the apparatus to respond to a new shift of wind from a direction previously used to initiate fogging. The apparatus and technique of the invention produce such a fine dispersion of the insecticide or other material that the carrier liquid is substantially evaporated from the sprayed material before the droplets reach the ground.
