    • The invention provides a bus line traffic control adapter apparatus which can secure a communications throughput of a data terminal which is already in a communicating condition even where there is a limitation in transfer capacity on a bus line. A first packet controller extracts throughput information in call user data in a call request packet. A traffic controller subtracts a current throughput value read out from a total throughput control section from allowable throughput information on a bus line, compares a value obtained by the subtraction with the throughput information notified from the first packet controller, and permits or rejects origination of a call in accordance with a result of the comparison. When a notification of rejection of origination of a call is received, the first packet controller cancels the received call request packet then and notifies a clear indication packet to the data terminal by way of a second ISDN control section.

    • A facsimile terminal communicates facsimile data with an opposite facsimile terminal through an ISDN circuit. Even if the communication speed of the facsimile terminal is different from that of the opposite terminal, the facsimile terminal can surely exchange the facsimile data with the opposite terminal. The facsimile terminal includes a transmission and reception unit for transmitting and receiving data to and from the opposite terminal through the ISDN circuit, a receiving condition judging unit for judging or determining whether or not the transmission and reception unit receives data normally. The facsimile terminal also includes a speed switching instruction unit for providing a speed switching instruction when the transmission and reception unit does not normally or successfully receive data. In addition a speed switching control unit is provided for switching the communication speed of the transmission and reception unit from one speed to another according to the speed switching instruction.

    • Disclosed is an ISDN terminal system which can automatically select one exchange method according to terminal equipments to communicate with. The ISDN terminal system 1 which can selectively adopt the line exchange or packet exchange comprises an analyzing section 203 for analyzing a call setup message received from the ISDN 3 to recognize the exchange mode designated by the calling terminal equipment, and exchange mode selecting sections 213, 103, 107 and 109 for selectively adopt either one of the line exchange or the packet exchange according to the exchange mode recognized by the analyzing section. The system further comprises an input section 11 for inputting compacted telephone numbers, a memory section 15 for registering telephone numbers previously determined according to the compacted telephone numbers and the previously determined exchange modes, reading sections 209 and 207 for reading the previously registered telephone number and exchange mode from the storing section in response to the inputted compacted number, transmitting sections 201 and 105 for forming a call setup message including information indicative of the read telephone number and exchange mode and transmitting the formed message to the ISDN 3, and exchange mode selecting sections 213, 103, 107, and 109 for selectively adopt either one of the line exchange or the packet exchange according to the read exchange mode.
