摘要： Certain embodiments of the invention provides a method and system for 7-digit dialing in a 10-digit mandatory dialing area. Aspects of the invention may include collecting a dialed string of digits corresponding to a directory number for a dialed call and determining whether an area code should be pre-pended to the collected dialed string of digits. The area code may be transparently pre-pended to a 7-digit dialed directory number if it is determined that the call is for a local area in order to conform with mandatory 10-digit dialing. Otherwise, 10-digits may be collected and used to route the call.

摘要： A method and apparatus for unified overlay dialing enables simplified telephone dialing to occur within a standard overlay area and eliminates disruption dealing with area code saturation. Each three-digit area code within an overlay area is associated with a single-digit suffix, with the parent area code obtaining the suffix “0”. Intra-overlay area dialing then proceeds on the basis of a seven digit number plus a one-digit suffix, rather than a full 10 or 1+10-digit number. For dialing to the parent area code from within the overlay area, the suffix may be omitted entirely, and the expiration of a suitable timing delay causes the seven digit number provided to be dialed into the original (parent) area code. This method can be implemented in connection with a telephone company central office switch, a modified custom calling service or be made accessible to individual telephone subscribers using computerized customer premises equipment. It can also be used to simplify dialing in non-overlaid situations.

摘要： The present invention discloses a method for implementing Wide Area Centrex (WAC), wherein the long number and short number corresponding relationship of the WAC users is set and saved. The method includes: routing the call initiated by a user to a soft-switch; receiving by the soft-switch the call information the calling user sends; after determining that the calling user is a WAC user based on the calling number, the soft-switch determining the route to the called user based on the call information and completing the call. The WAC, covering the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)/Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) user and the Next Generation Network (NGN) user of different physical networks, can be implemented by using the method of the present invention without any software or hardware change to the switches in the existing network.

Subsequently, the account is debited, according to the at least one rule, in real time if the transaction is authorized. The real time debit is settled with transaction providers in accordance with at least one settlement rule. If it is determined that the authorized user does not have sufficient funds in an authorized user account to debit for the transaction, the authorized user account may be recharged by a recharge routine that includes determining a recharge user account to transfer funds from and authorizing the transfer by at least one of referring to a pre-authorized transfer and requesting authorization from the authorized user. The transaction may be requested and the transaction providers may be connected via heterogeneous networks.

摘要： A system architecture for bypassing a local exchange carrier comprises an intelligent terminal, a residential gateway coupled to the terminal, a cable facility management platform terminating a twisted pair or coaxial cable facility and a network service platform. The twisted pair and/or coaxial cable fed, integrated residence gateway controlled intelligent terminal or set-top device provides a plurality of enhanced services. One necessary service is lifeline service that may be provided over the coaxial cable via a cable modem of the integrated residence gateway, over the twisted pair facility or via wireless means. The integrated residence gateway is coupled to either or both of the coaxial cable or twisted pair and distributes the bandwidth facilities available over either service vehicle to customer devices including the set top box. Wireless lifeline services may be offered through transceivers placed at the integrated residence gateways and/or at taps feeding the integrated residence gateways.

摘要： The invention provides a method and an apparatus for placing a caller into telecommunication with a subscriber. A call from the caller, directed to the subscriber, is detected and, in response thereto, a page is initiated to the subscriber and at the same time a forward leg call is initiated to a stored telephone address. If the call on the forward leg is answered, the party answering that call is placed in telecommunication with the caller. A call from the subscriber is also detected the subscriber is placed in telecommunication with the caller together with any party on a forward leg call.

摘要： A remotely accessible telephone control system for connection to a telephone circuit from a telephone exchange. The system includes a detector for detecting signals on the telephone circuit, a signal generator responsive to control signals to produce predetermined signals and apply those signals to the telephone circuit; a memory; and a central processing unit programmed for monitoring signals on the telephone circuit as detected by the detector, accessing the memory and producing and applying predetermined control signals to the signal generator. The central processing unit also identifyies a call to the system from a remote user, identifyies an indication from the remote user for a desired call transfer, receives and stores a transfer number from the remote user, produces control signals to cause the signal generator to apply appropriate signals to the telephone circuit to complete a call to the transfer number, and further activating the telephone exchange to connect the remote user to the transfer number.
