    • A transition adapter for terminating flat power cable includes at least a stamped and formed member having opposed plate sections between which an end or an edge portion of the cable is receivable to be terminated. The plate sections have opposing cooperating terminating regions comprised of a plurality of alternating wave shapes and relief recesses, with each wave shape aligned with a recess of the opposing terminating region. When the plate sections are urged together under sufficient force, shearing edges along each side of each wave shape shear the cable conductor by cooperating with shearing edges of the adjacent wave shape of the opposing terminating region, scissors-fashion. Crests of the wave shapes deflect the sheared cable portions into the opposing relief recesses, forming a series of interlocking wave joints across the intermeshing terminating regions and terminating the cable between the plate sections. The wave crests deflect integral strips of conductor out of the plane of the cable, exposing sheared conductor edges for electrical connection therewith such as with solder. Softer metal insert members may be secured to and along outer surfaces of the plate sections to engage and form gas-tight electrical connections with substantial surface areas of the sheared conductor edges.

    • A cable clamping device is provided for use with an electrical connector for electrically terminating conductors of a multi-conductor cable. The cable includes a shielding foil running the length of the cable. The cable clamping device includes first and second clamp means hingedly attached and defining mating faces profiled to provide a cable passage therebetween. Complementary interengaging latch means are provided on the first and second clamp means to hold the clamp means together sandwiching the cable in the passage. A foil shield bus terminal is mounted on one of the first and second clamp means and includes puncture means for penetrating the shielding foil. The other first and second clamp mans bias the shielding foil into penetrating engagement with the puncture means. A conductive means couples the foil shield bus terminal to the ground conductor of the cable.

    • A connector for joining multi-conductor cables comprising first and second mating connector elements which are fixed to first and second multi-conductor cables. The first connector element holds bared sections of the conductors of the first cable in a spaced apart relationship and defines upstanding pillars over which the conductors are folded. The second connector element holds bared sections of the conductors of the second cable in a spaced apart relationship and defines apertures adjacent to the conductors which are shaped to receive the upstanding pillars, so that respective conductors of the first and second cables are urged into electrical engagement with one another when the first and second connector elements are mated. The frictional contact between the conductors ensures a self-cleaning action.

    • A two-piece solderless connector is disclosed herein having a first member formed with a cavity supporting a leaf spring over which a strip of plastic backed electrical conductors are carried so that the strip is folded over upon itself to define a contact closure between opposing surfaces of electrical conductors. Resilient biasing members urge the conductors together.
