    • The invention relates to a structure including a cleat connector for providing an electrical connection between an insulated wire and a bifurcated terminal element of electrically conductive resilient material. The terminal element includes a pair of leaf-spring contact arms lying in a plane and defined by a centrally located slot therein having sharp edges and adjoining an enlarged entry opening. The width of the slot is less than the diameter of the metallic conductor of the wire so that when the wire is pressed into the slot, the wire insulation is cut through, and an electrical connection is established between the wire conductor and the terminal element. A clamping element is associated with the terminal element for gripping the insulated wire.

    • There is disclosed a terminal connecting block and bracket assembly. The terminal connecting block contains a plurality of flat elongate electrically conductive elements. Each element in the block comprises a flat base portion and at least one pair of opposing insulating shearing contact fingers projecting from the base portion and integral therewith. The opposing contact fingers project upwardly from the terminal block. Each electrically conductive element also contains a tang projecting from the opposite end of the base portion. A plurality of the electrically conductive elements are in electrical contact with a unitary electrical connector, e.g., a male or female connector, by means of electrically conductive wires. One end of each wire is attached to one of said tangs and the other end of each wire is attached to the unitary electrical connector. The terminal connecting block is used in combination with a bracket for mounting the block on a surface. The bracket comprises two spaced apart elongate side portions and an elongate rear portion coextensive with the side portions. Each of the side portions is secured to opposite edges of the rear portion and is perpendicular thereto. The side portions also contains recesses and holes for mounting a unitary electrical connector. The rear portion contains a plurality of elongated slots or openings and holes to accept rear mounted unitary connectors. The front portion of the bracket is open. The bracket may be secured to the wall in a telephone equipment room or it may be mounted on a telephonic equipment distribution panel supported on a three-sided frame.

    • The disclosure relates to a metal plate terminal rolled into a barrel configuration having a longitudinal open seam defining a wire receiving slot. The terminal defines wire gripping jaws on either side of the seam. A transverse slot intersects the open seam dividing the jaws into two tandem pairs. An enlarged flared entryway is provided in the second pair of jaws for the open seam. The first set of jaws have tab portions projecting toward the second pair of jaws for guiding a wire along the open seam from the first set of jaws to the second. The transverse slot is of substantial width to prevent abrasion of the jaws with one another. The transverse slot further is of arcuate configuration, perpendicularly intersecting the open seam and incising one-fourth of a circumference of said barrel configuration on either side of said open seam.

    • A box-like plastic connector housing has one end thereof opened with slots extending down opposite walls from said open end. A raised, anvil-like portion extends from the bottom of said housing upwardly towards said open end with a flat surface on the top thereof positioned between said slots. A magnet wire is inserted in said slots and laid upon said anvil surface. A U-shaped terminal has two thin, flat legs joined together by a transverse element. A slot extends across said transverse element and down into the said two legs. Said U-shaped contact is inserted into said box-like housing with the transverse element being inserted first and with the slots in the terminal legs and the box-like housing being aligned, thereby trapping the wire between the closed ends of said aligned slots, and specifically with the closed end of the slots in said terminal clamping the magnet wire firmly down upon said anvil surface.

    • A terminal strip assembly of an electrical conductor terminating system includes a first insulating terminal support block having an essentially M-shaped configuration, with a transverse bight portion, rows of electrical conductor guide portions projecting in a first direction from the same side of the bight portion, and resilient side legs projecting in a reverse direction from locations adjacent an opposite side of the bight portion. A row of U-shaped terminals is mounted on the first support block and each terminal includes bifurcated legs which extend within respective adjacent ones of the guide portions to receive electrical conductors inserted between the guide portions. A connector plug assembly for use with the terminal strip assembly includes a second insulating terminal support block having a row of essentially J-shaped electrical conductor terminals mounted thereon. One leg of each of these terminals extends within a pair of respective adjacent electrical conductor guide portions of the second support block. A second leg of each of the J-shaped terminals projects into a channel in the second support block so that the second leg is received in a respective one of the bifurcated terminal legs of the U-shaped terminals in the first support block when the connector plug assembly is plugged onto the terminal strip assembly. Releasably mounted members on the terminal support blocks retain the U-shaped terminals and the J-shaped terminals on the support blocks.

    • In an electrical terminating device wherein a conductive element, such as a bared conductor or a terminal contact, is secured to a terminal member by clamping the conductive element between a clamping screw and the terminal member, a resiliently deflectable cantilevered tang is struck from the terminal member and engages the conductive element, tending to confine the conductive element against longitudinal pull-out and lateral squeeze-out from between the clamping screw and the terminal member. The tang may be twisted or otherwise deformed to better present sharp gripping edges to the conductive element.
