摘要： An antenna array includes a plurality of patch antennas including a plurality of layers. Each of the plurality of layers are separated by a distance and each support a portion of the plurality of patch antennas. A plurality of connectors are each associated with one of the plurality of layers and supply a signal for transmission by the associated layer. A feed network on each of the plurality of layers provides a connection between a connector associated with the layer and the portion of the patch antennas located on the layer. Each layer transmits a signal having a different orthogonal function applied thereto that multiplexes each of the signals having a different orthogonal function applied thereto onto a single transmission beam. A parabolic reflector reflects the single transmission beam from the plurality of layers of the antenna array.

摘要： A scanning antenna with an antenna element having an evanescent coupling portion includes a waveguide assembly including a transmission line, adjacent the coupling portion, through which an electromagnetic signal is transmitted, permitting evanescent coupling of the signal between the transmission line and the antenna element. First and second conductive waveguide plates, on opposite sides of the transmission line, define planes that are substantially parallel to the axis of the transmission line, each plate extending distally from a proximal end adjacent the antenna element, whereby the propagated signal forms a beam that is confined to the space between the plates and thus limited to a plane that is parallel to the planes defined by the plates. The signal coupled between the transmission line and the antenna element is preferably polarized so that its electric field component is in a plane parallel to the planes defined by the plates.

摘要： A mode converter for converting transverse electric modes into hybrid modes of type EH.sub.mn and including a circular waveguide provided with corrugations extending in a circumferential (azimuth) direction that become deeper toward its end and are continued in a subsequent helically outlined aperture antenna with constant depth. The emitted radiation is circularly polarized and, by the use of suitable reflectors for the emitted radiation, may be cause to be linearly polarized. The emitted radiation no longer has any sidelobes in the far field and its characteristic has a Gaussian profile over the azimuth angle.

摘要： A reflector antenna comprising a reflector system, and a feed system, for instance a log-periodic feed system, the phase center of which moves with frequency, for illuminating the reflector system to produce a substantially focussed antenna beam. To compensate for frequency variations in the position of the phase-center of the feed system, the reflector system includes a frequency dependent reflector the effective surface of reflection of which varies with frequency to cause the focus of the reflector system to move with the phase-center of the feed system. A number of different forms of suitable frequency dependent reflectors are described, employing composite arrangements frequency selective mesh or grid reflector elements, or arrays of reflecting horns or wedges.

摘要： A conical reflector antenna is disclosed with a feed that is either a close approximation to a line source or a cylindrical structure which is electrically equivalent to a line source. Nearly complete control of its aperture illumination function is achieved by exciting various amounts of the line source or cylindrical feed. In addition to beamwidth control of a collimated beam that is linearly or circularly polarized, phasesensing monopulse operation is made possible by dividing a cylindrical feed structure into three equal sectors and incorporating conventional directional couplers for obtaining the difference between received signals from sectors on either side of a vertical axis for azimuth error, and the weighted difference between the sum of those signals and the signals from the third sector for an elevation error.
