    • A system and apparatus including a wireless network architecture that provides broadband data network coverage over an expandable geographic area. A media access control layer is also provided that facilitates access to the broadband wireless network. A high-frequency wireless modem enables high data rate access to the wireless network in a spectrally-efficient manner using SSB modulation. A wideband millimeter-wave antenna includes a cosecant-squared reflector enabling signal propagation between network elements thereby enabling seamless wireless communications. A millimeter-wave polarizer, and a septum polarizer each convert between linear and circular polarization. A cross-shaped horn antenna adapted for circularly polarized signals can also be used in combination with the septum polarizer. A combined horn antenna is fed using a microstrip patch antenna.

    • A waveguide has distal, medial and proximal sections. The distal and medial sections rotate relative to each other and to the proximal section. In a first configuration, the waveguide transforms linearly polarized electromagnetic radiation at the proximal end of the proximal section to linearly polarized electromagnetic radiation at the distal end of the distal section and vice versa. In a second configuration, the waveguide transforms linearly polarized radiation at the proximal end of the proximal section into circularly polarized electromagnetic radiation at the distal end of the distal section and vice versa. Preferably, the distal and medial sections include respective eight-wavelength polarizers and the proximal section includes a quarter-wavelength polarizer. A multi-band antenna feed includes two such waveguides, one nested inside the other, for transforming electromagnetic radiation of respective frequency bands.

    • An antenna system for transmitting and/or receiving radio frequency (RF) signals in multiple frequency bands includes a horn antenna and a feed network. The horn antenna may transmit and/or receive RF signals in multiple frequency bands that are spread over more than an octave bandwidth with at least a 2.44-to-1 bandwidth ratio. The horn antenna includes a throat, an aperture, and an interior surface. The feed network includes a first waveguide section, a first junction, one or more first filters, and a first step-down waveguide section. The first waveguide section can provide a matching network and transmit and/or receive the RF signals in the multiple frequency bands. The first junction can transmit and/or receive the RF signals in first selected band(s) of the multiple frequency bands. The first step-down waveguide section may transmit and/or receive the RF signals in second selected band(s) of the multiple frequency bands.
