摘要： A superconducting structure (1) has a plurality of linked band-segments (2), with each linked band-segment (2) having a substrate (3) and a superconducting layer deposited onto it (4). The linked band-segments (2) are joined to one another by superconducting layers (4) that face each other. Each linked band-segment (2) is joined to two additional band-segments (7a, 7b) in such a way that the superconducting layers (4) of the two additional band-segments (7a, 7b) and of the linked band-segment (2) face each other. The additional band-segments (7a, 7b) together substantially overlap the total length (L) of the linked band-segment (2). This provides for a superconducting structure, which exhibits high superconductivity and which is very suitable for long distances.

摘要： According to one embodiment, a magnetoresistive element manufacturing method is provided. In this magnetoresistive element manufacturing method, a first ferromagnetic layer, tunnel barrier layer, and second ferromagnetic layer are sequentially formed on a substrate. A conductive hard mask is formed on the second ferromagnetic layer. The hard mask is patterned. A hard layer is formed on the side surface of the hard mask. The second ferromagnetic layer, tunnel barrier layer, and first ferromagnetic layer are processed by IBE in an oblique direction by using the hard mask and hard layer as masks. The IBE etching rate of the hard layer is lower than that of the hard mask.

摘要： Systems and methods for flaw detection and monitoring at elevated temperatures with wireless communication using surface embedded, monolithically integrated, thin-film, magnetically actuated sensors, and methods for fabricating the sensors. The sensor is a monolithically integrated, multi-layered (nano-composite), thin-film sensor structure that incorporates a thin-film, multi-layer magnetostrictive element, a thin-film electrically insulating or dielectric layer, and a thin-film activating layer such as a planar coil. The method for manufacturing the multi-layered, thin-film sensor structure as described above, utilizes a variety of factors that allow for optimization of sensor characteristics for application to specific structures and in specific environments. The system and method integrating the multi-layered, thin-film sensor structure as described above, further utilizes wireless connectivity to the sensor to allow the sensor to be mounted on moving components within the monitored assembly.

The method compensates for non-ideal influences, such as imperfections in the magnetostrictive member, prestress, stress or load, quality of the magnetic circuit, and temperature. The method includes selectively energizing the coil to build and maintain a current for generating the magnetizing force; measuring the magnetic flux; and applying the magnetic flux as a feedback variable to control the magnetizing force and thereby control the amount of magnetostriction.
