摘要： A layered switch assembly permits more than one electric circuit function to be obtained from each of a set of switches used to control electric circuit functions such as the operation or adjustment of seats, mirrors or other components in an automotive vehicle passenger compartment. A group of switches for operator control is embedded in an armrest, console, or the like. Overlying the discrete switches are two or more flexible sheet or membrane layers for selective activation of one or more of the switches. Illuminated indicia on each switch activation layer identify the underlying switch operation. The uppermost layer controls the electrical switch function unless that layer has been moved aside to expose the next lower switch function activation layer.

摘要： A computer keyboard having an output port through which scan codes are directed to a computer CPU over a cable, the keyboard of the kind having a touch activated membrane switch onto which one of a plurality of key layout overlays can be installed. Each of a plurality of different stored data tables is operable when selected to determine the particular scan code that is directed through the keyboard output port over the cable in response to a membrane switch being activated. Each overlay being coded in a way that can be read by an overlay code identification device which automatically operates in response to a coded key layout overlay being installed onto the keyboard to read the overlay code, which is then used by a data table selector to select a particular data table for use with the installed overlay.

摘要： A remote control unit which is simple in structure and free from the possibility of disconnection and has a stabilized illumination function. The remote control unit comprises a body case having a recess and having a plurality of push-button switches disposed thereon, and a door mounted for pivotal opening and closing motion on the body case and having a plurality of push-buttons thereon in an opposing relationship to the push-button switches so that, when the door is closed, they are each operated by operation of a corresponding one of the push-buttons. The body case has a rising portion having a light admitting hole perforated in a side wall thereof adjacent the recess, and a light emitting element is accommodated in the rising portion. When the door is open, light emitted from the light emitting element and admitted into the recess through the light admitting hole is projected to display portions of the push-button switches, but when the door is closed, such light is introduced to display portions of the push-buttons on the door by way of a light conducting member provided on a rear face of the door.

摘要： An in-car-device controller permits a switch unit to be easily replaced. Switch units formed by control switches and keytops are installed to unit mounts. The types of the switch units are identified by the unit mounts by detecting the different shapes of switching driving portions formed at the distal ends of the keytops. The unit mounts are provided with detection switches for detecting the presence of the keytops. A control unit detects detection switch signals from the detection switches thereby to determine the presence of the key tops. If the control unit decides that any one of the keytops has been removed from the unit mounts, then the control unit turns OFF at least the control function associated with the removed keytop.
