    • The present invention relates to a keyboard having a plurality of keys marked with symbols, a frame to link with the plurality of keys, and a key signal input plate disposed under the frame and generating a specific signal corresponding to the key when touched with the key. The key includes a key body having a combining part combined to the frame; a key cap combined to an upper part of the key body and marked with a predetermined symbol; a base pin protruding from a bottom part of the key body arranged so that in touching the key signal input plate it lets the key signal input plate sense that the key is operated. At least one identification pin is spaced apart from the base pin and touching or not touching the key signal input plate to output the specific signal corresponding to the symbol on the key to the key signal input plate. With this configuration, the present invention provides a keyboard with keys that are changeable in position and size as necessary.

    • When plural types of key-switch bodies arranged on a keyboard base are fitted with the corresponding types of key-tops, fitting of an incorrect key-top on a key-switch is avoided. Each key-top has a key-top side assortment cord comprising a unique combination of convex portions and concave portions which is determined by the type thereof, and a housing of each key-switch body has a body side assortment cord comprising a unique combination of convex portions and concave portions engageable with the key-top side assortment cord in pairs. The key-tops can be fitted to the key-switch bodies only when the key-top side assortment cord is brought into engagement with the body side assortment cord.

    • A keyboard includes a plurality of keys. Each key includes a base, a key cap detachably connected to the base and includes at least two conductors, a flexible element connected between the key cap and the base, and a plurality of conduct lines mounted on the base. The conduct lines are not contacting each other. One end of each conduct line is connected to a processing unit. Each conduct line is assigned a code. If the key cap of one key is pressed, the conductors of the key contacts the conduct lines, thereby creating an electrical connection between the two conduct lines, and generating an electrical signal. The processing unit determines the function of the key according to the codes of the connected conduct lines.

    • Each keyboard key is marked with a self-defining indicator. A matrix of key sensing circuits for the keyboard are configured to detect this indicator when the keys are depressed and provide an output to a keyboard controller which in turn provides key signals to the keyboard's connector that is indistinguishable by a computer system from the output of a standard QWERTY keyboard. This enables the disabled user to carry this keyboard from one computer system to another and simply exchange it for the standard keyboard for the computer. There are no changes required to be made to the computer's operating system or any software of the computer in order to allow the disabled user to use the computer. Furthermore, other users are not required to reconfigure the computer system after the standard keyboard has been re-installed.
