    • A switch operator is provided that includes a single piece actuator shaft coupled to a single piece cap. According to certain embodiments, the actuator shaft may be snap fit to the cap. The cap may include an annular sleeve and an annular skirt that extend orthogonally from the cap. The sleeve includes recesses that receive tabs of the actuator shaft to couple the actuator shaft to the cap. In certain embodiments, the actuator shaft may include slots that allow the actuator shaft to flex upon attachment to from the cap. A bushing encircles the actuator shaft and extends into the cap where the bushing is disposed between the annular sleeve and a skirt. The actuator shaft also includes a pair of diametrically opposed slots that house a detent assembly. The detent assembly may be employed to retain the switch operator in the actuated position and in the unactuated position.

    • The invention relates to an emergency switch that includes a body receiving a mobile member capable of translation and capable, under the effect of an axial pressure through a mushroom member, of moving from an extended position into a retracted position. Each of the positions are indexed by a blocking device capable of interaction with an extended position notch and with a retracted position notch, the position change being managed by a guide. The body fixedly includes, in the inside thereof, a concentric bushing in which the mobile member is capable of axially moving and which includes a portion of the guide while the mobile member includes the other portion. The blocking device is made in the shape of a piece of material flexibly and elastically attached to the rest of the bushing via a blade.

    • A push button assembly including an operating unit and a switch unit having an enclosure. The operating unit is comprised of a housing, fastened to the switch unit enclosure, and having a hollow interior section. The operating unit is further comprised of a collar member having one end positioned within the interior section of the housing and another end extending outward therefrom, and a mushroom head fixed to the other end of the collar member. Also provided is an actuating plunger having one end mechanically coupled to the one end of the collar member and having another end coupled to the switch unit. Further provided are means for maintaining the collar member in a first position and means for maintaining the collar member in a second position. The first position maintaining means is comprised of means for biasing the collar member in the direction outward from the interior of the housing, a projection having an upper and lower wall extending from an exterior surface of the collar member and joining at an apex distal from the exterior surface, and the interior section of the housing having a portion in juxtaposition with the upper wall of the projection to limit the outward movement of the collar member. The second position maintaining means is comprised of a washer member, a rigid spring seat, and a spring member biased toward the exterior surface of the collar member and positioned between the planes formed by the respective flat surfaces of the washer member and the spring seat, whereby the collar member is maintained in the second position when the spring member is squeezed between the upper wall of the projection and the flat surface of the washer member.

    • A safety switch assembly having a handle pivotably attached to a casing to allow selective operation of an electrical contact assembly. The handle is attached to the casing with a movable pivot such that excessive grip pressure renders the safety switch inoperable until the safety switch is reset. The handle is moveable responsive to grip pressures that range from no actuation to a first grip pressure. Actuation of the handle in this range controls operation of the electrical contact assembly. Gripping of the switch with a grip pressure greater than the first grip pressure moves the pivot such that the safety switch is rendered inoperable, or non-conductive, until manipulation of a reset actuator returns the pivot to a pivot position associated with the first operating zone. Such a construction provides a safety switch that can be rendered inoperable and reset to allow subsequent operation.
