摘要： The present disclosure is generally related to a magnetic recording device comprising a magnetic recording head having a first current flow in a cross-track direction through a trailing shield. In one or more embodiments, a second current flows in a cross-track direction around the main pole. The magnetic recording device comprises a main pole disposed between a trailing shield, a leading shield, and side shields. A trailing gap is disposed between the side shields and the trailing shield. A high moment seed layer is disposed between the main pole and the trailing shield. A first insulation layer is disposed within the trailing shield and directs the first current through the trailing shield, guided to the proximity of the main pole. A second insulation layer, disposed below the trailing shield, directs the second current through the trailing shield, or alternatively through the side shields and around the main pole.

摘要： The present disclosure is generally directed towards magnetic recording systems comprising a dual free layer (DFL) read head and a magnetic recording head having stable magnetization. The magnetic recording head comprises a main pole disposed at a media facing surface (MFS), and a plurality of shields, such as a lower leading shield, an upper leading shield, a pair of side shields, and a trailing shield. Each of the shields individually comprises a first leg disposed at and parallel to the MFS and a second leg coupled to the first leg, the second leg being recessed from the MFS. When the kind of magnetization initialization needed by the DFL read head is applied to the magnetic recording head during the manufacturing process, the second leg of each of the shields of the magnetic recording device causes the magnetization directions of the shields to individually switch to a stable state.

In another embodiment, a deposition thickness of the nonconductive nonmagnetic layer in each laminate pair is between about 1 and about 12 nanometers. In yet another embodiment, the magnetic shield has at least one second laminate pair, and a nonlaminated magnetic portion sandwiched between the at least one laminate pair and the at least one second laminate pair.

The magnetic read head includes a primary read element configured to read a data track (i.e. n data track) and first and second secondary read elements located over adjacent data tracks (i.e. n+1, n−1 data track) at either side of the data track to be read. The secondary read element have asymmetrical off track amplitude profiles, preferably such that they each have a steep amplitude profile at the outer side and a broader cross-track amplitude profile at their inner sides. This allows the secondary read elements to detect signals of the adjacent data track (so that those signals can be subtracted out of the signal from the primary reader) without the secondary read elements also picking up further adjacent data tracks (i.e. n+2, n−2).
