    • A signal transmission system has a plurality of sensors, a plurality of modulation circuits connected to the sensors, a single demodulation circuit and a single power supply line for connecting the modulation circuits to the demodulation circuit. Each of the sensors has a resistor-capacitor type oscillation circuit of which the capacity varies with the variation of a physical quantity to be measured and outputs an oscillation output of the oscillation circuit as a sensor signal. Each of the modulation circuit has a one-shot circuit having a predetermined set time different from another one-shot circuit of another modulation circuit for sustaining the sensor signal for the predetermined set time. Each of the modulation circuits further has a transistor for switching and a zener diode of a zener voltage different from that of another zener diode of another modulation circuit. The transistor connects the zener diode to the electric power line to lower the voltage of the electric power line to the zener voltage when the sensor signal is inputted. The demodulation circuit has a plurality of comparators and a logic circuit. Each of the comparators compares the voltage of the power supply line with a reference voltage to generate a comparison signal. The logic circuit performs a logical operation of the comparison signals from the comparators to obtain the sensor signals at different output terminals.

    • A control system is provided for selectively generating one of a plurality of control signals with each signal corresponding to a particular predesignated function of a system such as a video camera system. Such a video camera system includes a plurality of video cameras, each of which can be individually controlled. The output signals from the control system are generated in response to constant voltage input signals produced by an input circuit. The input circuit is coupled to a control circuit associated with a video camera through a transmission line over which different constant level voltage input signals are transmitted. The input circuit enables the operator to first select the particular camera to be controlled and then to transmit the input signals to the control circuit for the selected camera. The voltage level of the input signal which is transmitted is selected from among a plurality of predetermined levels in dependence upon the control function to be achieved. The control circuit, in turn, receives the input signals and in response thereto will activate one of a plurality of switches for providing a corresponding output signal which serves to enable an appropriate camera function.

    • A system and method for sensing the status of a plurality of valves by detecting the total current flowing through a network of constant current devices connected in series with a plurality of limit switches responsive to the open and closed positions of the valves. The system uses a binary constant current encoding network to provide a total current that is a unique binary weighted indication of which switches are closed. The system includes a current measurement circuit that converts the current to a voltage, filters out noise and amplifies the voltage for input to an analog to digital converter. The output of the analog to digital converter is then decoded by a logic hardware or by a computer to derive a digital output indicative of the position of the switches. A bipolar voltage source energizes the constant current encoding network and interacts with the current measurement and decoding circuits to ensure a sufficient voltage level for constant current operation.

    • A method and circuit for controlling the selection of remote electrical loads. An illustrated embodiment of the remote load selector circuit is depicted in conjunction with an electric ceiling fan and is utilized to select rotation direction, light operation and one of several motor speeds. A remote sending unit is utilized to couple a selected fraction of the line supply voltage to the control unit. The selected fractional line supply voltage is then rectified, filtered and applied to a plurality of individually biased sensing units. Each sensing unit is utilized to select a different load condition and the output of each sensing unit is also utilized to disable the preceding sensing unit so that only the sensing unit with the highest bias will generate an output. A relay, multivibrator or other switching means is coupled to the output of each sensing unit and is utilized to select a desired load condition.

    • Apparatus for multiplexing switch state signals comprises a plurality of switches and parallel weighted resistors connected in series between circuit ground and a node at a utilization device. The resistors are weighted as a function of a power of the same base, such as the power of the base 2, for coding the multiplexed switch state signals. A constant current source connected between the node and circuit ground drives current over a single cable conductor through the resistor. Each switch may be independently closed to change the switch state voltage signals multiplexed to the node. An analog-to-digital converter connected between the node and circuit ground demultiplexes the switch state signals received at the node and provides a switch state signal at each analog-to-digital output corresponding to the state of the switches at the moment. A potentiometer may replace a resistor and bypass switch combination in a position where the potentiometer has a maximum value of the lowest power of the base in order to multiplex a true analog voltage signal while switch state signals are unambiguously coded and multiplexed. The potentiometer in the least significant position permits the analog value to be in the range from 0 to a maximum corresponding to the least significant position of the switch state encoding. The invention may be used in redundancy systems by duplicating the invention with corresponding switches in each duplication ganged to open and close simultaneously upon operation of a pushbutton switch.
