摘要： An image formation apparatus includes: a light source configured to emit laser light; a polygon mirror configured to reflect the laser light; a photoreceptor configured to be exposed to the laser light reflected by the polygon mirror; a motor configured to rotate the polygon mirror; and a controller configured to sense a type of a sheet transported through the image formation apparatus. The image formation apparatus includes as operation modes a first mode in which no sheet type is sensed and a second mode in which a sheet type is sensed. The controller performs different processes for control regarding rotation of the motor in the first and second modes, respectively.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a feeder including a tray and a pickup member, a size determiner, a sheet type setter, and a controller. The tray stacks a sheet thereon, and the pickup member feeds a contacted sheet. The feeder switches between a first state where the pickup member and the stacked sheet are in contact and a second state where the pickup member and the stacked sheet are separate. The size determiner determines a stacked sheet size. The sheet type setter sets a stacked sheet type. Where the type of the set sheet is a first type, the feeder switches from the second state to the first state when the size of the sheet is determined. Where the type of the set sheet is a second type, the feeder refrains from switching from the second state to the first state even when the size of the sheet is determined.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes paper trays to contain and feed a recording sheet on which a toner image is transferred; status sensors to detect a storage status of the recording sheet contained in the paper trays; a sheet sensor to detect a smoothness of the recording sheet; a memory to store detection values of the smoothness detected by the sheet sensor; a fixing device to heat and press the toner image transferred onto the recording sheet and fix it onto the recording sheet; and a control circuit to determine a target fixing temperature of the fixing device based on the detection values stored in the memory. The control circuit determines the target fixing temperature for successive recording sheets depending on the detected smoothness, and resets the detection values stored in the memory to zero when the status sensors detect a change in the storage status of the paper trays.

摘要： A transfer device includes a transfer bias power source, a switching device, and a sheet dependent condition setting device. The transfer bias power source applies to a transfer member, based on sheet dependent conditions for a recording medium onto which a toner image is transferred, one of a DC transfer bias and a superimposed transfer bias including an alternating current (AC) component superimposed on a DC component. The switching device switches a transfer mode between a DC transfer mode in which the DC transfer bias is applied to the transfer device and a superimposed-bias transfer mode in which the superimposed transfer bias is applied to the transfer device. The sheet dependent condition setting device sets arbitrarily at least one of the sheet dependent conditions for the recording medium at the superimposed-bias transfer mode. The sheet dependent conditions include a DC component value and an AC component value.
