摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, an intermediate transfer belt, first, second, and third power sources, and a control unit. During print job execution, the control unit controls the third power source such that a discharge current supplied to the intermediate transfer belt is constant current controlled based on first and second power source current supply detection results. When changing from a first to a second discharge current, the control unit controls the third power source such that, after a first image forming region passes through a primary transfer portion, an intermediate transfer belt trailing edge to which the first discharge current is supplied initially passes through the primary transfer portion and such that, before a second image forming region passes through the primary transfer portion, an intermediate transfer belt leading edge to which the second discharge current is supplied initially passes through the primary transfer portion.

摘要： An image forming apparatus performs a transfer residual toner collection operation including a toner adhesion step of allowing transfer residual toner to temporarily adhere to the collecting roller during execution of image forming operation, a toner moving step of moving the transfer residual toner adhered on the collecting roller to an image carrier after the image forming operation is finished, and a toner collecting step of moving the transfer residual toner from the image carrier to an intermediate transfer body so that a cleaning mechanism can collect the transfer residual toner. The control unit controls an image forming unit having developing current less than a threshold value, to apply the collecting roller with a voltage having the same polarity as toner charge polarity in the toner adhesion step, and to apply the collecting roller with a voltage having opposite polarity to the toner charge polarity in the toner moving step.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a belt, a contact member, a rotation shaft member, a cam, an opposing member, and a damper. The belt receives a toner image from the image bearing member. The cam rotates in tandem with the rotation shaft member and contacts or separates the contact member and the belt. The opposing member is disposed to face the rotation shaft member in a direction intersecting with a rotation shaft member shaft direction. The damper member has a first flexible portion and a second flexible portion that are elastically deformable by contacting with the opposing member. In either contact operation or separation operation of the contact member to/from the belt, the damper member rotates in tandem with rotation of the rotation shaft member so that both the first flexible portion and the second flexible portion contact with the opposing member and are elastically deformed.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image bearers, a plurality of rotation reference position detectors, and circuitry. Each of the plurality of rotation reference position detectors faces a corresponding image bearer of the plurality of image bearers to detect a rotation reference position of the corresponding image bearer. The circuitry performs, before an operation of rotating the plurality of image bearers, alignment control based on a result of detection performed by the plurality of rotation reference position detectors. The alignment control is control of driving of the plurality of image bearers to acquire a given relationship between the respective rotation reference positions of the plurality of image bearers. The circuitry determines whether to perform the alignment control based on whether the operation of rotating the plurality of image bearers is a function maintenance related operation.

The image forming devices include image bearers. The image output devices form latent images on the image bearers. The image forming devices form visible images from the latent images. The transfer device transfers the visible images onto the endless conveyor that conveys the visible images in an image conveyance direction. The holders hold the image forming devices interchangeable at holding positions aligned in the image conveyance direction. The detector detects the visible images. The circuitry compares a first visible image of the visible images formed at a specific holding position of the holding positions with a second visible image of the visible images formed at another holding position of the holding positions on the endless conveyor, to correct misalignment between the first and second visible images.
