摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a power source to output a voltage having an alternating waveform to transfer a toner image from an image bearing member to a recording medium. A time-averaged value (Vave) of the voltage has a polarity in a transfer direction, in which the toner image is transferred from the image bearing member to the recording medium, and an absolute value of the time-averaged value is greater than a midpoint value (Voff) of the voltage intermediate between a maximum value and a minimum value of the voltage. As a roughness of the recording medium increases, a duty ratio (Duty) expressed by A/(A+B) is reduced, where A is an area of the waveform of the voltage in a return direction opposite the transfer direction relative to the midpoint value in one cycle and B is an area in the transfer direction relative to the midpoint value.

Adjustable print media alignment fences are operatively connected to the electrical devices, such as potentiometers, photovoltaic strips, photoemitter-photodetector arrays, or the like. The output signals from the electrical devices are correlated to width and length dimensions of the print media or the absence of print media availability. Embodiments are disclosed for standard and custom print media size detection.

摘要： According to an embodiment, an image elimination apparatus eliminates an image formed on a sheet. A sheet supply unit supplies the sheet on which the image is formed. A first reader reads the sheet supplied by the sheet supply unit. An image eliminator eliminates the image formed on the supplied sheet. A second reader reads the sheet passing through the image eliminator. A discharge unit stacks the sheet to be discharged. A controller causes the first reader to read the sheet at a first speed in order to judge whether the sheet is reusable or not based on the reading result of the first reader. The controller also causes the second reader to read the sheet at a second speed faster than the first speed in order to judge whether the image formed on the sheet has been eliminated or not based on the reading result of the second reader.
