摘要： A bidirectional optical element in optical network units (ONUs) of a passive optical network (PON) includes a main filter configured to pass an upstream signal having an upstream-channel wavelength and a downstream signal having a downstream-channel wavelength, a drop filter configured to pass the downstream signal having the downstream-channel wavelength and reject the upstream signal having the upstream-channel wavelength, and an add filter configured to pass the upstream signal having the upstream-channel wavelength and reject the downstream signal having the downstream-channel wavelength, wherein the main filter, the drop filter, and the add filter are configured to share a single optical waveguide, and the optical waveguide is configured to connect input ports of the main filter and the drop filter and an output port of the drop filter and is provided in a straight line shape.

摘要： A wavelength selective switch (WSS) may include a first port array including input ports, each to launch a respective beam of light, and a dispersive element to separate, in a lateral direction, a beam of light, launched by one of the input ports, into dispersed wavelength channel sub-beams. The WSS may include a switching array to direct the dispersed wavelength channel sub-beams, at respective angles in a vertical direction. The dispersive element may converge groups of dispersed wavelength channel sub-beams in the lateral direction to form wavelength channel sub-beams. The WSS may include a splitting element to split, in the lateral direction, a wavelength channel sub-beam, of the wavelength channel sub-beams, into split wavelength channel sub-beams. The WSS may include switching elements to direct the split wavelength channel sub-beams at respective angles in the vertical direction, and output ports associated with the switching elements.

摘要： The present invention provides a switch device for an optical signal which has high extendibility and which can suppress an increase of loss in extension. A switch device in one embodiment of the present invention includes, in a housing, four splitter portions, four switch portions, and extension splitter portions. The splitter portions are connected to path-side ports, the switch portions are connected to client-side ports, and the splitter portions and the switch portions are connected to one another via shuffle fiber arrays. One ends of the extension splitter portions are connected to path-side extension ports, and the other ends thereof are connected to client-side extension ports. The number of wavelengths processable by the switch device can be easily changed by changing a connection state of optical fibers to the path-side ports, the client-side ports, the path-side extension ports, and the client-side extension ports.

The WXC device includes multiple input and output wavelength dispersive elements and a cross connect assembly. The cross connect assembly includes multiple rows of incoming ports. For each individual wavelength of different wavelengths, split optical beams of the individual wavelength from the input wavelength dispersive elements reach a row of incoming ports corresponding to the individual wavelength. The cross connect assembly further includes transmissive active switching elements and multiple rows of outgoing ports. The transmissive active switching elements configured to dynamically establish at least one optical path between an incoming port within the row of incoming ports corresponding to the individual wavelength and an outgoing port within a row of output ports corresponding to the individual wavelength.

摘要： An optical system can automatically lock an adjustable spectral filter to a first wavelength of an incoming light signal, and can automatically filter an additional incoming light signal at the first wavelength. A tunable filter can have a filtering spectrum with an adjustable peak wavelength and increasing attenuation at wavelengths away from the adjustable peak wavelength. The tunable filter can receive first input light, having a first wavelength, and can spectrally filter the first input light to form first output light. A detector can detect at least a fraction of the first output light. Circuitry coupled to the detector and the tunable filter can tune the tunable filter to maximize a signal from the detector and thereby adjust the peak wavelength to match the first wavelength. The tunable filter further can receive second input light and spectrally filter the second input light at the first wavelength.
