摘要： A radar device for automotive applications comprises a radar circuit configured to process a radar signal that has a first signal portion and a second signal portion, wherein the first signal portion occupies a first frequency band and the second signal portion occupies a second frequency band that is separate from the first frequency band. An antenna device of the radar device comprises a first and second antenna element that are both coupled to a common signal port of the radar circuit and the radar device is configured to route both the first signal portion and the second signal portion via the common signal port between the radar circuit and the antenna device. The antenna device is a frequency selective antenna device that transduces the first signal portion via the first antenna element and not via the second antenna element and that transduces the second signal portion at least via the second antenna element.

摘要： Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems are equipped with channel extenders to further increase the number of receive and/or transmit antennas that can be supported by a given radar transceiver. One illustrative radar system includes: a radar transceiver to generate a transmit signal and to downconvert at least one receive signal; and a receive-side extender that couples to a set of multiple receive antennas to obtain a set of multiple input signals, that adjustably phase-shifts each of the multiple input signals to produce a set of phase-shifted signals, and that couples to the radar transceiver to provide the at least one receive signal, the at least one receive signal being a sum of the phase-shifted signals. An illustrative receive-side extender includes: multiple phase shifters each providing an adjustable phase shift to a respective input signal; a power combiner that forms a receive signal by combining outputs of the multiple phase shifters.

The positioning sensor further includes a memory that stores a first signal strength value of a first signal that the receiver receives when a variable load varies in value, and a processor that calculates a second signal strength value from a complex propagation channel, searches for a complex propagation channel candidate that has a minimum difference between a first signal strength and a second signal strength, determines the complex propagation channel candidate to be a complex propagation channel when the receiver receives the first signal, and estimates an incoming direction of the first signal from the determined complex propagation channel.

摘要： The invention provides a system and a method for detection of oil spills and icebergs at sea and for aiding the navigation of ship traffic to avoid collisions between ships and icebergs. A constellation of polar orbiting satellites is used to determine the position of icebergs and oil spills within an observation area, and this information is transmitted to a data processing center which also receives information concerning the position of ships within the observation area. The data processing center uses this information to evaluate the likelihood of collisions between ship and icebergs and sends warning signals to the ships, alerting them to the danger. The data processing center also correlates the position of ships and oil spills to determine the likely cause of the latter.

A spectrum estimation device, connected to the sampling device, generates a range profile signal including a plurality of range bins each containing a magnitude of a spectral component. A threshold device, connected to the spectrum estimation device, generates a target space array from the range profile signal. A target decision device, connected to the threshold device, generates estimated range and speed signals for a closest target from the target space array.
