摘要： The present application discloses a system comprising a compact curved grating (CCG) and its associated compact curved grating spectrometer (COGS) or compact curved grating wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer (WMDM) module and a method for making the same. The system is capable of achieving a very small (resolution vs. size) RS factor. The location of the entrance slit and detector can be adjusted in order to have the best performance for a particular design goal. The initial groove spacing is calculated using a prescribed formula dependent on operation wavelength. The location of the grooves is calculated based on two conditions. The first one being that the path-difference between adjacent grooves should be an integral multiple of the wavelength in the medium to achieve aberration-free grating focusing at the detector or a first anchor output slit even with large beam diffraction angle from the entrance slit or input slit, the second one being specific for a particular design goal of a curved-grating spectrometer.

摘要： An optical system comprising an input member, a predetermined output plane and a reflection type diffraction grating is disclosed. The input member receives an optical signal. The reflection type diffraction grating comprises a grating profile curved surface and a plurality of diffraction structures. The diffraction structures, which separate the optical signal into a plurality of spectral components, are respectively disposed on the grating profile curved surface by a plurality of pitches. At least some pitches are different from each other, so that the spectral components are emitted to the predetermined output plane in a direction substantially perpendicular to the predetermined output plane. The grating profile curved surface is used for focusing the spectral components on the predetermined output plane.

摘要： A spectrograph usable as a demultiplexer/detector in a wavelength division multiplexing optical system. The spectrograph comprises a planar waveguide and a detector array. The planar waveguide has a dispersive edge having an inwardly concave shape, an input edge, and a straight output edge. The dispersive edge has a reflective diffraction grating formed on it, the grating having a variable line spacing. An optical input signal comprising a plurality of different wavelength ranges enters the waveguide at the input edge, and travels through the waveguide and strikes the grating. The grating focuses the optical energy in each of the wavelength ranges at a focal spot at the output edge, the position of each focal spot being a function of wavelength. The detector array comprises a plurality of photodetectors positioned along a straight line, such that the photodetectors are positioned at the focal spots. Each photodetector therefore detects the optical energy in one of the input ranges. A stack of such planar waveguides may be assembled to form a multi-channel spectrograph.

摘要： A plane grating, particularly for a monochronomator, is provided with varied-spaced straight and parallel grooves in a light beam path to compensate for other light affecting components, for example a spherical mirror used for collimating or focusing the light beam. The angle of incidence with respect to the light for each of the grooves may vary and the angle of diffraction with respect to the light for each groove may be required to vary with the imperfection of collimation and focusing of the beam. The grooves are varied in their spacing to compensate for the variation of both incidence and diffraction direction.
