    • The flow meter for one of a liquid and a gaseous medium comprises a casing and a measuring insert which is insertable into said casing. The measuring insert as a structural unit includes at least one first sound transducer for emitting a first sound signal into a measuring path through which the medium flows during operation and a second sound transducer for receiving the first sound signal after passing through the measuring path, the measuring path through which the medium flows during operation when the measuring insert is inserted, at least one end plate which seals a casing opening of the casing into which the measuring insert is insertable in such a way as to prevent an escape of the medium and which is provided with at least one of the two sound transducers, and at least one outer transducer cover which covers at least one of the two sound transducers on an outside of the end plate remote from the medium. A seal is arranged between the transducer cover and the end plate. An electric connection wire is guided through the transducer cover to at least one of the two sound transducers in a sealed manner.

    • Methods and systems for detecting fraud caused by tampering with a fuel flow meter. In one embodiment, the method comprises providing a fuel flow meter for measuring the flow of liquid fuel. The flow meter has at least one shaft supporting a rotor. The method further comprises providing the flow meter with a rotary displacement sensor. Also, the method comprises measuring a first angular position of the shaft upon termination of a first fueling transaction and measuring a second angular position of the shaft upon initiation of a second fueling transaction. Finally, the method comprises comparing data indicative of the first and second shaft angular positions to determine whether fraud has occurred.

    • A system and method of detecting fuel theft at a fuel dispenser. The system has a fluid flow meter, a pulser operatively coupled to said fluid flow meter, and a control system in electrical communication with the pulser. The control system is configured to calculate a flow rate of fuel being dispensed from a gasoline dispenser during a single dispensing transaction. The flow rate is sampled at predetermined time intervals during the single dispensing transaction. The system then compares the sampled flow rates to a predetermined flow rate pattern indicative of potential fraud. A shutoff signal is then provided to the dispenser to stop fuel flow through the dispenser if the sampled flow rates are substantially similar to the predetermined pattern.
