The fragments may enhance performance of the munition. The warhead may also contain preformed fragments.

摘要： A munition, such as a projectile formed of at least one reactive material. In one embodiment, the projectile includes a body portion formed of at least one reactive material composition wherein the at least one reactive material composition defines at least a portion of an exterior surface of the projectile. In other words, a portion of the reactive material may be left “unbuffered” or exposed to the barrel of a gun or weapon from which it is launched and similarly exposed to a target with which the projectile subsequently impacts. In one embodiment, the projectile may be formed with a jacket surrounding a portion of the reactive material to provide additional structural integrity. The projectile may be formed by casting or pressing the reactive material into a desired shape, or the reactive material may be extruded into a near-net shape and then machined into the desired shape.

摘要： A shock mitigation assembly for a penetrating explosive weapon having a first explosive charge and a second explosive charge includes an electronic circuit card having an electronic circuit formed therein, a weight attached to the circuit card to form a circuit card subassembly, a housing enclosing the subassembly, and a hyperelastic material between the housing and the subassembly for internal shock mitigation. The hyperelastic material has a modulus of elasticity that remains elastic characteristics with shock, temperature, or a combination of shock and temperature. The housing may include a casing and a cover with corresponding features that mate with one another and prevent separation of the cover from the casing. The casing also may have an external spiral flange that overlaps an internal spiral flange of a support for the casing, with a hyperelastic material between the casing and support for external shock mitigation.

摘要： A high shock survivable fuze, system, and method are presented. At least one shock-survivable fuze that survives a high shock environment comprises a timer, a detonator, and a protective housing. The timer sends a fire signal after a programmed delay in response to an arming command. The detonator initiates an explosion in an explosive in response to the fire signal, and the protective housing protects the timer and the detonator from the high shock environment. An arming module communicates with the at least one shock-survivable fuze and sends the arming command.

The fuel may be a metal, a fusible metal alloy, an organic fuel, or mixtures thereof. The oxidizer may be an inorganic oxidizer, sulfur, a fluoropolymer, or mixtures thereof. A reactive material projectile having the reactive material disposed therein is also disclosed.

摘要： A modified 40 mm grenade round designed to breach doors without throwing a significant amount of shrapnel into a building's interior or back toward the shooter. The modified round includes a forward extension on the ogive. The extension is rigidly connected to a thrust column which transmits an impact load directly from the ogive's nose cap to the striker on the fuse assembly. This configuration detonates the explosive charge within the projectile while the explosive is still well outside the door. This early detonation throws a pressure wave again the door's exterior, forcing the door inward.

摘要： A modified 40 mm grenade round designed to breach doors without throwing a substantial amount of shrapnel into a building's interior. The modified round includes a standoff device located on its forward end. The standoff device detonates the explosive charge within the projectile before the nose of the projectile actually strikes the target. This early detonation throws a pressure wave again the door's exterior, forcing the door inward. Shrapnel produced by the detonation remains primarily outside the door. Thus, the modified projectile is able to blow open a door without throwing a significant amount of shrapnel into a building's interior.
