摘要： The present invention discloses a projectile device for the nonlethal immobilization of threats. The invention includes a plurality of grappling-type hooking assemblies attached by a flexible means to a projectile core, a means for the dispersal of the hooking assemblies on or just prior to impact on a target, and a means for ballistically deploying the device from a 12 gauge shotgun, a 35 mm flare gun, a 40 mm grenade launcher, or other suitable launching device. In particular, the hooking assemblies disperse and adhere to the target, while the flexible attachment means entangle and either limit the motion of or immobilize the target.

The target can be a moving target with the device configured to slow or disable the movement of the target. The device can be triggered manually or through an automated targeting system. The launch apparatus can be configured to launch a single device or a plurality of devices. The device launched against the target can be separated from the launch vehicle or tethered to the launch vehicle. The device can be a net that entangles the rotors of a rotor-driven vehicle. The device can include a parachute to retard movement of target vehicle whether it is falling or if it continues to move. A method of patrolling a perimeter with an airborne vehicle includes the steps of moving the airborne vehicle within the perimeter to sense unauthorized targets and launching a device against those sensed targets.

摘要： An entangling projectile for use in a projectile deployment system includes a pair of pellets and a flexible tether connecting the pellets. Each of the pellets includes an outer diameter and at least one recessed portion extending inwardly from the outer diameter, the recessed portion having an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the pellet such that a pocket is formed in the pellet. The pocket provides an area for accumulation of debris and gasses carried by a pressure wave created by the projectile deployment system. One or more engagement hooks can be coupled to one or both the pellets, or to the tether.

Representative methods include directing an interceptor UAV toward a target UAV, and directing the interceptor UAV back to ground along a controlled flight path, for example, in response to an instruction not to engage with the target UAV, and/or in response to an unsuccessful engagement. Another representative method includes disabling the target UAV by deploying a disabling element (e.g., a net) from the interceptor UAV to contact the target UAV. Representative systems include a target acquisition system, a launch control system, and an engagement system carried by the interceptor UAV. In particular embodiments, the interceptor UAV can have a generally cylindrical fuselage, one or more fins carried by the fuselage, counter-rotating propellers carried by the fuselage, and a disabling system that is configured to disable the target UAV.

摘要： A countermeasure system for intercepting an incoming weapon, such as a rocket propelled grenade (RPG), includes a launcher that is used to launch a countermeasure. A door covers and protects the countermeasure in an opening in the launcher prior to the launch of the countermeasure. The door is separated (pushed away) from launcher when the countermeasure is launched, for example being pushed out into a flight path of the countermeasure by the countermeasure itself. The door may be attached to the countermeasure, or may be a separate piece that flies away from both the countermeasure and the launcher after launch of the countermeasure. Pitch over motors or other orientation adjustment devices may be used to change the orientation of the countermeasure after launch. The countermeasure may be used to defeat the incoming weapon in any of a variety ways.
