    • Compact solar energy collector that incorporates into the same housing the collector itself and an accumulator in the shape of a parallelepiped and divided by walls to better withstand water pressure, being then complemented with the remaining conventional elements such as pump, differential thermostat, purges and valves, the housing being fitted with a transparent cover (3) and a heat exchanger inside (13) that is connected to the pump (1) and to the collector (6) and at the other end to valve (11) and lip (10), the rest of the interior of the housing containing insulating material. The water pumping rate is controlled by supplying the pump (1) with electrical power generated by a photovoltaic panel (2) in proportion to the intensity of available sunlight.

    • A solar still assembly has a thermally-insulated pan which supports an open frame of elongated members. The pan has side walls which support the frame members, with one side wall being higher than the other side wall. One end of each frame member is attached to the top edge of the higher side wall while the additional support for each frame member is provided by the lower side wall. The frame members incline downwardly toward the lower side wall. There are several embodiments which teach alternative frame members for providing the additional support by the lower side wall as well as the manner in which a trough is formed from the frame members or is attached to the pan. In all embodiments, a thin-film, flexible, solar-energy transmissive sheet overlies the frame, permitting solar energy to enter the still and evaporate liquid in the pan. Condensate forms on the inner surface of the solar sheet and flows down the inclined surface into the trough.

    • A solar water heater has a plurality of generally triangularly shaped panels, the panels being assembled in a pyramidal or prism shaped structure on top of a base structure. Each panel includes a planar transparent structure for permitting the passage of solar radiation therethrough. Coupled to the planar structure is a radiation absorbing member or multiplicity of radiation absorbing elements. The radiation absorbing member or elements are configured to form an enclosed structure so that water can flow, typically in channels, therebetween. An inlet is provided at the top of each panel and an outlet is provided at the bottom of each panel so that water can be introduced into the interior of the top of the panel and flows, under the influence of gravity, to the bottom of the panel, i.e., through the outlet. The solar radiation passing through the planar transparent structure is absorbed by the radiation absorbing member or elements, the radiation absorbing member or elements being heated thereby. The heat of the radiation absorbing member is transferred to the water. The radiation absorbing member has a channel structure fabricated to increase the length of time the water stays in contact with the radiation absorbing member or elements, thereby enhancing the heat transfer.This is a continuation-in-part of copending application Ser. No. 06/932,938 filed on Nov. 20, 1986, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,782,816 issued Nov. 8, 1988.

    • A solar heat collector comprising an upper casing which receives the rays of the sun, a lower casing which is joined to the lower edge of the upper casing, side covers connected to both right and left edges of the upper and lower casings so as to seal the right and left edges of a heat collecting chamber which is formed between the upper and lower casings, and a fluid flow heat exchanger which is installed in the heat collecting chamber. The insulating space is divided into compartments by a number of partitions and the upper casing has an outward facing connecting flange and the lower casing also has a flange for connecting it to the upper casing. A heating medium flow exchanger is installed in the heat collecting chamber formed between the upper and lower casings.

    • A modular solar heating device particularly designed and constructed for installation at the base of a mobile home, and comprising a support housing of a substantially triangular cross sectional configuration for supporting a light transmitting cover in an angular orientation with respect to the horizontal for transmitting energy from the sun to a heating plate disposed within the housing in spaced and substantially parallel planar relation with respect to the cover. A cool air receiving chamber is provided below the heating plate and in communication with a cold air return vent within the interior of the home for receiving cooled air therefrom. A hot air chamber is provided between the heating plate and the cover due to a greenhouse effect, and an air passageway provides communication between the cool air receiving chamber and the hot air chamber. The hot air chamber is in open communication with warm air vents provided in the interior of the housing whereby the heated air may be discharged into the room for heating thereof. A blower may be provided for facilitating the circulation of the air to and from the interior of the home and through the solar heating device.
