摘要： In an apparatus for connecting tubular members together by cold forging a plurality of rollers are carried on a shaft which includes a tapered portion cooperating with the rollers to force the rollers radially outwardly to forge the tubular member into the end portion of a surrounding tubular member. The forging apparatus is provided with a gear mechanism which incrementally rotates the rollers upon completion of each reciprocal pass so that substantially all of the internal surface of the tubular member is contacted by the rollers to forge the tubular member into the end portion of the surrounding tubular member.

摘要： A flexible joint for connection between a pair of conduits for transferring a gas, under pressure, between the conduits. The joint includes a hollow, annular inner member for connection to one of the conduits which defines a spherically shaped, convex seal receiving surface and a hollow annular outer member which defines a spherically shaped, concave seal receiving surface for connection to another of the conduits. The outer member is mounted over the inner member such that the convex and concave surfaces are spaced apart and movable relative to one another about a common center point. Both the inner and outer members are open on opposite sides of their respective spherically shaped surfaces. The outer member may include and outer part and an intermediate part which is removably connected to the outer part. One of the members contains a single seal ring assembly retainer groove which opens toward and opposing one of the surfaces and which is centered on the center point. The other of the members contains a pair of spaced apart and registered seal ring retainer grooves having a common center line which intersects the center point. The grooves contain seal ring assemblies, each of which include at least one seal ring having a spherically shaped bearing surface which conforms to and engages an opposing one of the seal receiving surfaces.

摘要： A universal joint permitting the relative axial angular deflection of two members comprises a receptacle in one of said members, a plug on the other of said members received in said recess and spaced apart therefrom, rolling seal means between the periphery of said receptacle and the periphery of said plug and a fluid filling the volume between the plug member, the seal means and the receptacle. Such a seal is particularly useful for permitting the relative angular deflection of two members which are subjected to loads tending to force the members towards each other such as are encountered, for example, in a reaction motor employing a movable nozzle where the blow-out loads on the nozzle tend to force the movable nozzle against the fixed nozzle support structure. This joint, with the receptacle, plug and seal means in annular form, is a lightweight, reliable, load bearing universal joint and nozzle seal which requires relatively low actuating forces.
