摘要： A sliding component provides both functions of leakage prevention and lubrication in accordance with environments such as the type, temperature, and pressure of a sealed fluid and the sliding speed of a sliding face. Dimples 10 are provided in one of the sliding faces of a pair of sliding parts that slide relative to each other. Each of the dimples 10 has an upstream cavitation formation region 10a disposed close to the low-pressure fluid side and a downstream positive pressure generation region 10b disposed close to the high-pressure fluid side. The positive pressure generation region 10b has a downstream distal end at which a positive pressure relief groove 15 connecting the positive pressure generation region 10b and the high-pressure fluid side is provided, thereby being configured to control the ratio between the size of the cavitation formation region 10a and the size of the positive pressure generation region 10b.

摘要： In a stern tube sealing device, slurry contained in outboard water is suppressed from depositing on sliding portions between a wall surface of a seal ring chamber or an outer peripheral surface of a propeller shaft and a sealing surface of a seal ring. A first seal ring (121) is arranged in a first seal ring chamber (111), and a second seal ring (122) is arranged in a second seal ring chamber (112) which is formed at an inboard side of the first seal ring chamber. The first seal ring chamber and the second seal ring chamber are in communication with each other through the sliding portions between a wall surface of the first seal ring chamber and a sealing surface (121a) of the first seal ring. Outboard water is filled into the first seal ring chamber, and clear water is filled into the second seal ring chamber.

摘要： A mechanical seal is disclosed having a rotatable sealing face and a stationary sealing face that are in opposed relation and arranged to be urged, into contact to form a seal. One of the sealing faces is mounted on a support assembly that includes a biasing device operative to move that sealing face into contact with the other sealing face. In one form of the invention, the biasing device comprises one or more resilient members that in use are deformed to provide the biasing force. In a second form of the invention, the support assembly forms part of a fluid barrier of the seal and the biasing device is fluid impervious and forms part of the barrier. In a third form of the invention, the biasing device is exposed to fluid pressure in the chamber and the biasing force increases on increasing the fluid pressure in the chamber.

A fixed-side sealing ring, which slides against the rotation-side sealing ring, and a bellows for axially urging the fixed-side sealing ring is provided to the cartridge. The bellows is made from a metal; and the metal bellows has one end fixed to a case for holding the fixed-side sealing ring and another end fixed to the cartridge. The plate thickness of the metal bellows is set so as to be smaller than the plate thickness of the case or the cartridge.
