    • A filler assembly is mounted in an axial hole of a cap of a valve. The filler assembly includes at least one first filler and at least one second filler stacked in a longitudinal direction. A valve rod received in the axial hole extends through the at least one first filler and the at least one second filler. At least one of two mutually abutting faces respectively of the at least one first filler and the at least one second filler is at a non-parallel angle to a radial direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. If one of the at least one first filler and the at least one second filler is subjected to a pressing force in the longitudinal direction, at least one of the at least one first filler and the at least one second filler is moved in the radial direction to press against the valve rod.

    • The seal arrangement (1) for piston compressors comprises a deformable ring support (2) and a first and a second endless sealing ring (3a, 3b), wherein the ring support (2) has a longitudinal axis (L) which extends perpendicularly with respect to its circumferential direction, and wherein the ring support (2) has a gap (2i) with play in its circumferential direction, and wherein each sealing ring (3a, 3b) has a longitudinal axis (3c, 3d) which extends perpendicularly with respect to its circumferential direction, and wherein the sealing rings (3a, 3b) are arranged in such a way that the ring support (2) encloses them from the outside, and wherein the two sealing rings (3a, 3b) are arranged next to one another in the direction of extent of the longitudinal axis (L), and wherein the ring support (2) and the sealing rings (3a, 3b) are designed to be adapted to one another in such a way that the first sealing ring (3a) bears on one side against a first side wall (2d) of the ring support (2) and forms a first gap (S1) to the ring support (2) on the opposite side with regard to the longitudinal axis (3c) of the first sealing ring (3a), and wherein the second sealing ring (3b) bears in a diametrically opposed manner on one side against a second side wall (21) of the ring support (2) and forms a second gap (S2) to the ring support (2) on the opposite side with regard to the longitudinal axis (3d) of the second sealing ring (3b), wherein the first and second side walls (2d, 21) are arranged so as to lie opposite one another with regard to the longitudinal axis (L), with the result that the ring support (2) can in each case bring about a prestressing force (5a, 5b) on the first and second sealing rings (3a, 3b) respectively via the first and second side walls (2d, 21) respectively, wherein the prestressing forces (5a, 5b) extend in an opposed manner.

    • A bearing seal assembly includes a pair segmented circumferential or a carbon ring seals to contain oil in the bearing compartments of a gas turbine engine or other mechanical device. The pair of seals, an oil-side seal and an air-side seal, are axially-spaced between the oil and the air in the housing. Air at an elevated pressure is introduced between the seals. This elevated air pressure urges the seals axially apart from one another and radially inward to improve the seal. A backup seal is provided adjacent either the oil-side seal or the air-side seal. In the event of failure of either the oil-side seal or the air-side seal which results in the loss of air pressure, the backup seal will provide at least a minimum level of seal between the oil compartment and the air in the housing.

    • A sealing ring about a cylindrical rod moving in a cylinder separates high and low pressure areas on either side of the seal. The seal rides in an annular groove in the cylinder and has a first conically shaped steel ring with a gap between its surface and the rod with its longer surface toward the rod. A second polymeric plastic mating conically shaped ring has its shorter surface in contact with the rod surface. The back surfaces of the two rings are spaced from the back of the angular groove by a rubber ring. The angular groove has a gap on the high pressure side which permits the medium under pressure to force the two conical surfaces together urging the polymeric ring into the rod on the one hand and compressing the rubber ring to urge both the steel and plastic rings toward the rod on the other hand.
