    • An indexing and braking mechanism for a manual transmission having a shifting mechanism and at least one rotatable drive shaft is disclosed. The mechanism includes an indexing mechanism for controlling movement of the shifting mechanism between at least a first position and a neutral position. The indexing mechanism has a plate having a plurality of notches formed thereon, wherein one notch corresponds to the first position and another notch corresponds to the neutral position. A locking mechanism is provided for selectively limiting movement of one of the at least one rotatable drive shaft. The locking mechanism is adapted to selectively engage the plurality of notches to selectively maintain the indexing mechanism in one of the first position and the neutral position. The locking mechanism includes an indexing lever having a contact surface for contacting the rotatable drive shaft.

    • A transmission has a drive train which is coupled with the engine, e.g. an automotive vehicle and a reversing gear connected to the output shaft. A slidable gear shifted on a fixed shaft, continuously meshes with a gear of the drive train and can be brought into mesh with the reversing gear for reverse drive. According to the invention the shiftable gear is connected with a synchronizing ring which has a frustoconical surface engaging the frustoconical surface of a synchronizing disk which is keyed to the fixed shaft when the slidable gear is shifted toward the reversing gear to stand still. The synchronizing disk or member on the shaft can be entrained with the sliding gear upon overcoming the force of a detent formed by a bore on the fixed shaft which is biased outwardly by a wedge member and an axial spring in the fixed shaft.

    • A tractor transmission having an input shaft, a PTO system transmission shaft disposed thereunder, a gear-type speed change mechanism for changing the number of rotations of the input shaft, and oil reservoir. A gear in engagement with the gear in said gear-type speed change mechanism is rotatably disposed at said PTO system transmission shaft and blades are disposed at the boss of this first-mentioned gear. At least one side of each of said blades is opened toward said oil reservoir. Lubricating oil in said oil reservoir is utilized as resistance to the blades, thereby to stop the rotation of the gear-type speed change mechanism otherwise caused due to the force of inertia.
