摘要： An assembly tool (104) for positioning the rolling elements (150, 155) of a bearing assembly (100) during a preloading operation includes a roller seating actuator (400) configured to be removably coupled to a portion of the bearing assembly during the preloading operation, and a roller seating ring (420) movably coupled to the roller seating actuator. The roller seating ring includes a distal end (440) configured to engage an end of a rolling element of the bearing assembly. A biasing member (460) is positioned between the roller seating actuator and the roller seating ring and biases the roller seating ring away from roller seating actuator such that the distal end of the roller seating ring engages and presses the rolling element axially into engagement with a rib (145) of a race of the bearing assembly.

The unit may include first and second spaced-apart sets of tapered roller bearings, held between inner and outer raceways. There may be a bearing setting spacer which can be used when setting and pre-loading the bearings. The bearing unit may be a sealed unit which includes a pre-set amount of lubricant (grease) for lubricating the bearings. One or more sensors may be retained in a void between the sets of bearings.

A load-calculating unit calculates the thrust load acting on the rotor by multiplying the relative displacement measured by the displacement sensors by a conversion coefficient.

The abnormality detector includes a filter configured to prevent metal pieces contained in lubricating oil flowing through the bearing space between the outer and inner races from passing through the filter, while allowing the lubricating oil to pass through the filter so as to flow to the outside space of the bearing space; an electric circuit including a pair of permanent magnets mounted, as a pair of electrodes, to the filter so as to be spaced apart from each other, and lines extending from the respective electrodes to a power source; and an output detector configured to detect a change in electrical output from the electric circuit when metal pieces adhere between the pair of permanent magnets, thereby detecting the state of metal pieces contained in the lubricating oil.

摘要： A seal construction for forming a lubricant barrier between relatively movable members including a wear or working surface on one of the members and a flexible seal element on the other member. The working surface is composed of a multiplicity of triangular asperities arranged in a simple geometric array, and these asperities are engaged by a seal face on the seal element. The depressions between the asperities permit lubricant to contact the seal face and prolong the life of the seal. Most of the triangular asperities point toward the lubricant side of the seal construction so that the sidewalls of the asperities serve as pump impellers for pumping the lubricant back toward the lubricant source. Some of the triangular asperities may be oriented in the opposite direction to maintain adequate lubricant flow underneath the seal face. The depressions may be filled with a soft filler material which during relative rotation in the presence of the lubricant wears and to a limited extent reestablishes the depressions beneath the seal face. In this manner, the depressions are maintained at an optimum depth as the asperities themselves wear.
