    • An injector is designed to provide continuously variable injection rate shaping. With a hydro-mechanical internal feedback mechanism, injector needle position can be determined by controlling a feedback valve's on/off timing. According to the needle position, an injection needle valve opening can be controlled, and then the injection flow rate can be delivered proportionally. Also in accordance with the present invention a CRDI systems are provided including injectors of the present invention, wherein results demonstrate that injector designs of the present invention not only achieve rate shaping capability but also solve the above-noted problems of the current CRDI system. Finally, an iterative learning controller has also been developed to track the desired injection rate, and an injection rate estimator is designed to realize a cycle to cycle feedback control.

    • In a fuel injection device, a control body has a pressure control chamber, an inflow port and an outflow port. The inflow port and the outflow port are opened at an abutting surface exposed to the pressure control chamber. In the pressure control chamber is arranged a floating plate for pressing the abutting surface by a pressing surface with the pressure of the fuel to interrupt communication between the inflow port and the pressure control chamber. The abutting surface of the control body is provided with an outer opposite surface portion opposite to an outer edge of the pressing surface in a displacement axis direction of the floating plate, and the outer opposite surface portion has a special depressed portion that is depressed in the displacement axis direction and that extends along the shape of the outer edge of the pressing surface.

    • The invention relates to a fuel injector for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. A fuel supply line enters an injector housing from a high pressure fuel source which can be hydraulically connected to a pressure chamber. A 3/2 directional control valve for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber has a valve piston which can be moved axially back and forth between a rest position and an injection position. The 3/2 directional control valve, by a first end face of the valve piston, which adjoins a hydraulic coupling chamber, is hydraulically coupled to and can be activated by a piezoelectric actuator. The 3/2 directional control has a ball element which is connected to a second end face of the valve piston and, in the rest position, can be moved against a first sealing edge and, in the injection position, can be moved against a second sealing edge. The diameter of the valve piston and the diameter of the first sealing edge have a ratio which permits the ball element to be pressed in the rest position with a small contact force against the first sealing edge. A fuel injector with a 3/2 directional control valve is therefore created which has a simple design, and complex production processes are dispensed with.

    • A common rail injector for an internal combustion engines has control means including a piezoelectric actuator deposed in an injector body and via at least one booster piston actuates a control valve received in a valve plate. Also provided are a nozzle body having a nozzle outlet on its free end toward the combustion chamber; a nozzle needle located axially movably and actuatably in a longitudinal recess of the nozzle body; a throttle disk, closing off the rear end (remote from the nozzle outlet) of the longitudinal recess and located between the nozzle body and the control valve, which throttle disk forms an opening stop for the nozzle needle and cooperates with the rear end face of the nozzle needle and thus limits the opening stroke of the nozzle needle; and a control chamber between the rear nozzle needle end face and the throttle disk, which chamber is in hydraulic communication with a pressure connection serving to deliver fuel. A substantial special feature is that a cylindrical retaining body is disposed in the injector body and receives the booster piston or pistons and the valve plate that contains the control valve.
