摘要： A split-cycle internal combustion engine (ICE) is provided, comprising a compression cylinder, an expansion cylinder and a crossover valve having a valve cylinder housing inside a shuttle and a combustion chamber structure defining a combustion chamber. The shuttle is configured to perform reciprocating motion inside the valve cylinder synchronously with a compression piston and an expansion piston, thereby alternatingly fluidly coupling and decoupling the combustion chamber with the compression cylinder and with the expansion cylinder, selectively. Sealing rings positioned between the valve cylinder and the shuttle prevent gas leaks between them during the reciprocating motion. In some embodiments, a phase shift between the pistons may be set or varied by a piston phase transmission gear. A bi-directional fluid flow split-cycle internal combustion engine (ICE) is also provided having a first cylinder, a second cylinder, a combustion chamber and a single crossover valve fluidly communicating them. A three-cylinders split-cycle internal combustion engine (ICE) is also provided, having a compression cylinder and a combustion chamber, wherein a single crossover valve alternatingly fluidly couples the combustion chamber to two or more expansion cylinders.

摘要： A compound engine including a gas turbine unit and a two-stroke uniflow scavenge piston unit having a hollow cylindrical exhaust valve mounted concentrically with an associated piston to form a portion of the combustion chamber within a peripheral wall of the exhaust valve. A double acting exhaust valve actuator is responsive to rotation of the crankshaft and is operatively coupled to the peripheral wall of the hollow cylindrical exhaust valve to produce forces derived directly from rotation of the crankshaft to open and close the exhaust valve. The actuator is a camshaft having two sets of cams which drive a cam follower in response to rotation of the crankshaft.

摘要： The present invention relates to an internal combustion engine cylinder assembly comprising a first cylinder having substantially vertically disposed interior walls defining a firing chamber therein; first piston means housed within the firing chamber and adapted for vertical reciprocation within the firing chamber; gas inlet channels means in the lower portion of the firing chamber; a crankcase housing having a gas compression chamber disposed therein; valve means adapted to permit fresh air mixture to be charged into the gas compression chamber upon the depressuring of the chamber; fuel introduction means for introducing liquid fuel into the upper portion of the firing chamber; second cylinder means positioned at the upper end of the first cylinder and having an exhaust chamber therein and a second piston means disposed within the exhaust chamber and adapted for vertical reciprocation therein, the exhaust chamber communicating with the upper end of the firing chamber; the second cylinder means being provided in the lower portion thereof with at least one exhaust gas port adapted for cyclic opening and closing to permit removal of exhaust gases from the firing chamber; at least a portion of the first cylinder extending downwardly into the gas compression chamber and being adapted to house at least a portion of the first piston means during the full downstroke of the first piston means; the upper portion of the crankcase having inwardly coverging walls to define a converging gas space in the upper portion of the gas compression chamber annularly about the downwardly extending first cylinder portion.
