摘要： A panel support column for supporting sheet rock panels in an overhead position during the fixed mounting of the sheet rock panels to a ceiling. The panel support column is comprised of a broad flat bearing plate, rotatably attached to a circular cross section support rod, a support barrel having a cavity which closely accepts the support rod for reciprocative movement, an upper and a lower retaining clamp, a compression spring mounted around the juncture of the support rod and support barrel, and an non-slip end cup on the lower end of the support barrel. The support rod has a plurality of height adjusting holes to which the upper clamp can be attached so as to allow adjustment of the height of the panel support column to accommodate ceilings of different heights. In operation, the support column is adjusted to a length greater than the floor-to-ceiling height so that the support rod can be manually urged into the support barrel, the support column then positioned under the panel to be supported, thereafter allowing the compression spring to urge the support rod out of the support barrel to support the panel in place.

摘要： A support for wearing on the torso and supporting and raising a ceiling panel. The support includes a harness that engages the torso and a frame that is operatively connected to the harness and supports and raises the ceiling panel. The frame includes a pair of rods that extend upwardly and aligningly along the harness and an H-pipe that has a pair of uprights. Termination ends of the pair of rods extend snugly through lower restricted bores in the H-pipe. The frame further includes a pair of coil springs that are captured in the pair of uprights of the H-pipe and sit on the termination ends of the pair of rods. Upper ends of the uprights of the H-pipe contain ball sockets. The frame further includes a pair of balls that are rollingly received in the ball sockets in the H-pipe so as to form ball joints. The pair of balls have necks that extend freely through upper restricted bores in the H-pipe and supporting portions that diverge from the necks. The supporting portions of the pair of balls have rubber pads thereon that are flat and raise the ceiling panel and support the ceiling panel when the ceiling panel is against a ceiling and the pair of coil springs provide tension thereon.

摘要： A ceiling panel installation support includes a rectangular tubular cushioned panel rest which during operation conveniently temporarily holds a ceiling panel, such as a sheet rock panel, up against an overhead ceiling structure while the panel is being secured in place by permanent attachment to the overhead structure by nails or screws or other fastening means. In preparing the present ceiling panel installation support for shipment, for storage or for carrying from one job site to another, the rectangular tubular cushioned panel rest is easily detached from its operating position at the upper end of the upright elongated, spring-biased, releasable-clutch-controlled jacking assembly. Then, this tubular panel rest is placed in telescoping relationship around the jacking assembly as a temporary housing for providing a compact and unified easily carried or stored package of components. A number of additional enhanced features are described in relation to the sheetrock support device disclosed and claimed in Patent No. 4,733,844, issued on March 29, 1988.
