    • A self-propelled track working machine comprises a frame, track working equipment carried by the frame and subjecting the frame to a load and an undercarriage arrangement with two main undercarriages supporting the frame for mobility on the track and an auxiliary undercarriage associated with each main undercarriage and arranged adjacent thereto. The main undercarriages include driven axles to propel the machine and each auxiliary undercarriage includes a dead axle with two wheels arranged to engage the track rails and an adjustment drive for moving the auxiliary undercarriage for selective engagement of the wheels of the dead axle with the track rails whereby diminishing or increasing portions of the load are transmitted to the track by the dead axles and wheels of the auxiliary undercarriages in dependence of the movement of the auxiliary undercarriages into the selected engagement and the load transmitted by the associated main undercarriages is correspondingly increased or diminished by operation of a control for the adjustment drives.

    • A mobile apparatus for dynamically stabilizing a ballast bed supporting a track at a desired level comprises a reference for determining a deviation of the track grade from the desired level, and at least two track stabilization units spaced from each other in the direction of track elongation. Each unit includes a chassis running on the track rails on flanged wheels, vibrators for imparting at least approximately horizontal vibrations to the track engaged by the flanged wheels, a mechanism for laterally pressing the flanged wheels into play-free engagement with their associated rails, and loads associated with each rail and supplemental to the weight of the apparatus for imparting a pressure to the rails in the direction of the ballast bed whereby the vibrating track is pressed to a lower level.

    • A highway/rail vehicle has highway wheels and rail wheels which are movable between extended and retracted positions. The vehicle has selectively engageable first and second drives for transmitting power from the engine to the highway and rail wheels respectively. When the vehicle is in a rail going condition with its rail wheels in their extended positions the highway wheels are maintained out of contact with the track rails by deflection restriction devices operable on the suspension devices for the highway wheels. The vehicle also has a sub-frame at the rear on which the rear rails wheels and the bodies of lifting jacks of auxiliary apparatus are mounted. The sub-frame is vertically movable on slides. The auxiliary apparatus may include tamping, packing, leveling and/or lining apparatus.
