摘要： This invention relates to a sealing composition for a mineral insulated electric cable termination. The sealing composition includes an inert filler such as silica flour, a low vapor pressure organic material such as a polyphenyl ether and an aerosil. This composition has improved slump resistance at high temperatures with little run out and no tendency to crack at 250.degree. C.

摘要： A packing material comprises glass or other inorganic fibers in combination with organic fibers such as sintered polytetrafluoroethylene (TFE) or other selected fibers with or without an impregnant, a preferred impregnant being a lubricant with a binder. Ceramic fiber or quartz fiber can be substituted for glass fiber. Specific metal disulfides or talc can be substituted for the dispersed graphite and dispersed polytetrafluoroethylene (TFE) can be used as a binder for the lubricant. Aramid, polyethylene, polypropylene, graphite, carbon, vegetable, nylon or rayon fibers or filaments can be substituted for the sintered TFE fiber in combination with inorganic fiber.

摘要： The herein-disclosed putty is for forming air-tight and smoke-tight seals under normal and fire exposure conditions, and bubbles up when heated with flame, producing a foamed carbonaceous layer having outstanding fire-retardancy. It is a mixture having a cone penetration value of 2-40 which includes (a) liquid or semi-solid organic material having a viscosity of 50-100,000 c.st. at 210.degree. F and (b) a phosphoric acid compound substituted with one or more nitrogen-containing groups. The putty may also contain (c) polyhydric alcohols and/or carbohydrates for increased fire retardancy, (d) blowing agents for increased insulating effect, (e) grease, for high temperature flow resistance, (f) heat resistant fiber, for reinforcement, (g) microballoons, for increased insulating effect and other additives. The enclosed drawing discloses particularly desirable proportions for the components (c) and (d) in relation to the amount of component (b).

These gasketing sheets have from about 5 to about 20% fiber, and at least about 62% filler, and a reduced binder concentration, containg about 18% by weight of binder or less, allowing the binder to be reduced even to zero. The filler must be at least about 3% by weight of a gel-forming mineral filler. In addition to giving from good to very excellent seals against polar liquids, this gasketing also has good torque retention and creep resistance.
