摘要： Dinadic phenyl amine reactive endcap monomers for application in high-temperature polymeric composites are described. The amine group of the endcap is directly reacted with a desired chemical backbone to provide the preferred rigidity and chemical resistance. The ability of the amine group to react with a wide variety of chemical backbones allows the tailoring of formulations for various application temperatures, mechanical properties, processes and resistances while retaining the high degree of crosslinking that yields excellent temperature stability, ease of processing and the necessary toughness. Polyimide oligomers comprising the reaction product of at least one dinadic phenyl amine endcap monomer and a chemical backbone, preferably with a molecular weight not exceeding about 1000-3000, suitable for high temperature composites are described. The dinadic phenyl amine endcaps may be reacted with an acid anhydride capped precursor to form polyimide resins suitable for high-temperature composites.

The reactants for use in synthesizing the polyimide resin include an acid anhydride and a diamine, with the diamine including 4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane and its analogous compounds and polyetherdiamines. The resin composition has the following advantages, a resin film or a prepreg is manufactured from the resin composition comprises a polyimide resin synthesized from a diamine of a specific structure and a pre-polymerized maleimide resin, so as to achieve satisfactory characteristics of circuit laminates, such as a low dielectric constant, a low dissipation factor, high heat resistance, and high adhesiveness, so as to be for use in the manufacturing of metal clad laminates and printed circuit boards.

The polyimide resin can have a weight average molecular weight (Mw) from 5,000 to 100,000 daltons. The organic compound can include at least one primary aliphatic amine without a direct linkage of a nitrogen to an aryl group and without a functionality selected from a halogen functionality, a hydroxyl functionality, a sulfonic acid functionality, a sulfonic acid salt functionality, and combinations thereof. The disclosure also relates to alkyl imide functionalized polyimides also with aryl amine functionalized polyimides, having aryl amine functionality in excess of any anhydride functionality and articles produced therefrom.

摘要： This invention is a highly concentrated stable solution of polyimide precursors (monomers) having a solids content ranging from about 80 to 98 percent by weight in lower aliphatic alcohols i.e. methyl and/or ethyl alcohol. The concentrated polyimide precursor solution comprises effective amounts of at least one aromatic diamine, at least one aromatic dianhydride or a lower molecular weight alkyl ester of said dianhydride, and a monofunctional endcap including monoamines, monoanhydrides and the lower alkyl esters of said monoanhydrides. These concentrated polyimide precursor solutions are particularly useful for the preparation of fibrous prepregs and composites for use in structural materials for military and civil applications.
