摘要： The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for the automatic insertion of an individual upholstery tuft (3) and washer (1) from a plurality of connected tufts (4) and a plurality of connected washers (2) into an upholstered article. The apparatus has a cutting blade (35) to separate an individual tuft (3) from the plurality of connected tufts (4). The turf (3) is then engaged by a pair of arms (27, 28) and fed into a tuft insertion needle (14). The arms are connected to automatic washer feed apparatus which feeds an individual washer (1) from the plurality of connected washers (2) and aligns it with the tuft insertion needle (14) ready for insertion. The insertion needle (14) is pneumatically actuated to force the tuft (3) through the washer (1), into the upholstered article, release the tuft (3) and subsequently withdraw the needle (14) from the article.

摘要： A commercially available product, of a type having a batting with a softness and flexibility and configured for use in the formation of a quilt, where the quilt has at least one cover to be securably attached to the batting, includes a composite member sold in at least one desirable size for making a quilt and formed of the batting and an adhesive material as an article of manufacture, is disclosed. The batting consists of a fibrous material and the adhesive material includes a water-soluble material and is effective to form a removable bond at the opposing faces of the batting, so that the quilt may be formed by at least temporary attachment of the cover to the batting by the bond and the bond is removable after formation of the quilt.

The quilt may have at least one cover to be securably attached to the batting. An adhesive provided is with the batting so that the cover can be attached to the batting during formation of the quilt. The batting with the adhesive may be sold as a commercially available product in at least one desirable size for formation of the quilt. The batting may comprise a cotton material, or a polyester material, or a cotton and polyester material. The adhesive provided with the batting may be configured to be selectively activated when applying the cover for attachment to the batting. The adhesive provided with the batting may be removed by a treatment. The commercial product may include instructions for the use of the batting.

摘要： A fastening device for detachably fitting protective covers on upholstered foam material, such as seat cushions, seat backs or mattresses, by means of upholstery buttons which can be attached to the fastening device in the manner of snap fasteners. The fastening device consists of a connecting tape (1) on both ends of which are molded attached end pieces (2, 3) which have spherical heads (4) and (5) onto which the upholstery buttons can be pressed. One attached end piece (2) has on the side facing the tape a cylindrical stem (12) and on the stem, at a short distance from the head, is a stop plate (6) for holding the attached end piece (2) against one side of the foam. The other attached end piece has on its side facing the tape, a stem (12) on which is located, at a short distance from its head (5), a smaller support plate (7) whose diameter corresponds approximately to the diameter of the spherical head (5). This plate serves as support for an anchor plate (8 ) that bears against the other side of the foam after the end piece (3) has been pulled through the foam object.

摘要： A solid compressible foam body is enclosed within a cover of flexible material. A plurality of recessed areas are formed along the surface of the cushion by compressing the foam body in each area and applying closed stitch patterns defining a circular section. The stitches in each pattern pass through the foam body and the cover material situated adjacent opposite surfaces thereof. The stitches maintain the foam body within the stitched areas in a permanently compressed state. The recessed areas are uniformly spaced to create a simulated button tufting effect.

摘要： A button particularly for pillows and mattresses comprises a wide base portion with a hook shank connected to and extending out of the base portion and being curved around to enclose a hook loop. The interior of the shank within the loop is provided with an outwardly extending spring catch which extends partly across the open end of the loop. The outer leg of the hook shank extends backwardly toward and substantially perpendicular to the base and overlies and covers the spring catch. This outer leg portion has a terminal part which is made of triangular configuration with the sides diverging from the triangular in a direction toward the base so that the base of the triangular configuration is adjacent the button base.
