    • Embodiments disclosed herein provide a connector and a method of using a connector. A connector for joining a cable with an anchor comprises a first end, a second end and a spacer extending between the first end and the second end. An opening is disposed at the first end. The opening has a configuration that mirrors a configuration of the anchor. A guying portion for joining the cable to the connector is disposed at the second end. An extension is disposed adjacent the spacer for facilitating juncture of the cable and the connector. In a method, the anchor is applied to a support surface and the first end and the anchor are joined. A tool that moves the cable in proximity to the guying portion is connected with the extension. The tool is activated to bring the cable closer to the guying portion. A portion of the cable is inserted into the guying portion for joining the cable to the connector. A further connector comprises a first end and a second end. A guying portion for joining a cable to the connector is disposed at the second end. An extension is disposed substantially between the first end and the second end for facilitating juncture of the cable and the connector. In each embodiments the connector is a single, unitary piece.

    • The invention relates to a lifting tool for prefabricated dwelling modules, specifically for industrialized modules having recesses (2) with frustoconical bases on at least one of the edges thereof, said recesses being provided with a metal coating (3) which co-operates with a base flat (4) having a central threaded hole in which a leveling screw (7) is inserted with play. The tool comprises a main body (8-8′) having the same general configuration and size as the recess (2) in the module (1). The main body is provided with a plurality of bolts (13-14, 13′-14′, 21) which can project from said body, the free outer ends of which terminate in a beveled edge (41-41′, 22) which facilitates the retraction of the bolts upon contact with the walls of the recess (2). The bolts are controlled by cams (16, 26-27) which move the bolts longitudinally in order to lock/unlock the tool in relation to the module (1) to be lifted.

    • The invention relates to a dwelling module, a roof module, a balcony module, a facade module, a building and a lifting tool for a modular construction system used to form a building from the aforementioned modules. The dwelling module (3) includes a floor (31), a roof (34T) and pillars between the floor (31) and the roof (34T). The pillars contain an embedded multi-purpose part (32) which is used to stack one module on top of another. The roof module is positioned on top of the building, while the balcony module (359) and the facade module (310) can be positioned peripherally to the building. The lifting tool is used to transport and install the dwelling module (3) at the desired site in order to complete a building.

    • Method and apparatus for providing inserts, such as lift inserts and step inserts, in cast members. The inserts have breakaway tabs mounted in receiving slots in either a reusable holder or disk-shaped member. The assembled insert and holder are inserted through a collar on the outer jacket of a mold assembly and a locking pin passes through cooperating openings in the holder and collar to retain the lift insert/holder in place during the casting operation. The disk-shaped member is fixed to a jacket of the mold assembly. The breakaway tabs break away from the insert when the cast member is separated from the mold assembly, the breakaway tabs being discarded and the holder (disk-shaped member) being reusable many times for subsequent casting operations. The slots, in one embodiment, have a locking shoulder to lock the tabs in their slots. In another embodiment, a cam surface on the tabs lock the tabs in the slots. In another embodiment, one slot and one tab differ in radial or circumferential length from the other tabs and slots to permit alignment between the slots and tabs in only one position to assure that the tabs are properly mounted in the holder.

    • An object handling device includes a support body (32), and an elongate anchor body (40) mounted at the inner end thereof to the support body so as to project from the support body for insertion into an undercut cavity (28) in an object to be handled. Lift means (60) on the support body is engagable by a crane to lift the object. Lock means (50, 51) is provided to block movement of the anchor lug(s) from the second position. In one aspect, the anchor body (40) is rotatable to effect said movement of the anchor lug(s). In another, the lock means (50, 51) is slidable generally longitudinally of the anchor body means to a blocking position in which movement of the anchor lug(s) from the second position is blocked. In a further aspect, there is substantially no cavity or void in the object within a region outwards of said undercut shoulder portions (29) sufficient to allow collapse or flow of the object material when the object is being lifted. Aslo disclosed is a form (25) for defining an undercut cavity in a precast object.
