    • In order to package flat objects (1) with the aid of a quasi-endless packaging material web, the packaging material web is placed around a row (4) of the objects (1), in which these objects are conveyed one after the other and in an interspaced manner, whereupon longitudinal seams are made in the packaging material web and transversal seams are made between the objects (1) whereby separating the packaged objects from one another. In contrast to prior art packaging methods during which the row is formed before the packaging material web is fed thereto, the invention provides that the row is directly formed on the packaging material web (2) during which the objects are, by acceleration, separated out from a supply stream (3), in which they are fed while overlapping one another, and directly placed upon or pushed onto the packaging material web (2). Forming the row (4) directly on the packaging material web (2) eliminates additional conveying steps whereby shortening the entire required conveyor lines and rendering stabilizing means for stabilizing the objects (1) during conveyance unnecessary thus leading to very compact and simple packaging devices. The packaging method is particularly suited for packaging objects that consist of a number of stacked printed products or other flat articles.

    • A paper feed apparatus includes a gate, an actuator, a transmission, a pickup device, a reversing device, a paper feed device. The gate has a rack defined at one end of the gate and a resilient arm connecting to the outer portion of the rack. The resilient arm has a plurality of external teeth. The actuator has a pickup gear with a disc-shaped body, an external wheel connecting to the outside of the body and an external gear connecting to the outside of the external wheel. A receiving passage is defined through the pickup gear along the axis thereof. The receiving passage includes a holding hole at one side of the receiving passage that is near to the rack. The resilient arm is inserted into the receiving passage with the external teeth abutting against the inner surface of the holding hole.

    • A sheet feed device has a sheet supply tray in which sheets to be fed are stored, a roller mechanism which ejects each printed sheet on to a sheet holding part, and a cover member which is placed between a sheet supply side on which each sheet is fed before printing and a sheet ejection side on which each sheet is fed after printing. In the sheet feed device, each sheet supplied from the sheet supply tray changes its sheet feed direction approximately 180 degrees before being ejected to the sheet holding part. Part of the cover member on the sheet holding part's side is provided with a first projecting part which lets the ejected sheets be held in the sheet holding part while being bent substantially in an S-shape.

    • An image recording medium feeding device has a feed system for feeding a stimulable phosphor sheet using opposite longitudinal marginal edges thereof, which are an image-free area, and a guide mechanism positioned in a curved feed path for contacting a substantially central area of the stimulable phosphor sheet and guiding the stimulable phosphor sheet along the curved feed path.
