    • The invention relates to an apparatus for the separating of stacked plate-shaped elements. It is the object of the invention to provide possibilities with which stacked plate-shaped elements, in particular plate-shaped elements prone to breakage, can be reliably separated in a short time and to increase the useful operating time of an apparatus. In the invention, a stack of plate-shaped elements is placed onto a lifting device with which a stepped raising in vertical stages takes place. A conveying device for plate-shaped elements is arranged above the stack, with at least one conveying element being fastened to a conveyor belt made in the form of a continuous conveyor or to at least one rotating roller at said conveying device. Conveying elements are made from an elastically deformable material and have at least one end face in the direction of the surfaces of plate-shaped elements to be separated.Conveying elements are dimensioned and are arranged at a spacing from the surface of a plate-shaped element arranged vertically upward at a stack such that conveying elements are brought into a mechanical contact with the surface of the plate-shaped element arranged vertically upward in the stack on a translatory movement of the conveyor belt or on a rotation of the rollers and a force is thereby exerted onto the surface of this plate-shaped element and this plate-shaped element can be moved from the stack by the movement of the conveying elements in the conveying direction.

    • Disclosed is a mechanism for receiving bales or cartons in small stacks or cubes and delivering single bales or cartons in pre-determined alignment. The bale or carton is placed on an elevator floor and moved up in steps of one tier at a time. A pusher arm sweeps the top tier of bales or cartons in the elevator off of the stack into a tier container. The tier container has drag chains which move the bales or cartons laterally into an orienting chute where each is oriented to the same pre-determined position regardless of its position in the stack. Two such units may be combined with a common chute so that two different stacks of bales or cartons may be alternatively singulated.

    • A depalletizer apparatus for unloading containers or other articles stacked in tiers which are separated by paperboard upon a pallet. The apparatus has a pallet infeed section, an elevator means for sequentially raising a loaded pallet to a height of one tier and sweep means operated in conjunction with the elevator to remove each tier onto a conveyor. Also disclosed is a pallet discharge means, and a paperboard removal means which together with the sweep means operate to move the pallets, the containers, and the paperboard onto three conveyors for transporting same to three separate collection areas, all conveyors being located adjacent the top of the elevator means. Finally, this specification also discloses a second elevator means for receiving the unloaded pallets and stacking same as well as a compartment for receiving paperboard and collecting same in a manner to facilitate subsequent removal and reuse.

    • A depalletizer and pallet stacking system includes an inlet station which an elevatable U-shaped loaded pallet support frame which permits a forklift unit to be lowered to deposit a loaded pallet with tiers of articles thereon. The loaded pallet support frame rises in steps to move the remaining uppermost tier of articles opposite the inlet end of an elevated horizontally extending conveyor. A shuttle carriage supported above the inlet station carries article gripping units each of which includes horizontally spaced article end hunting clamping members which come together to clamp an associated row of articles of widely varying size with the corresponding articles in the various rows being preferably laterally aligned. The shuttle carriage sequentially delivers each uppermost tier of articles to the inlet end of the conveyor, and the loaded pallet support means then lowers to deliver the empty pallet upon a pallet stacking support means which has been moved into an extended position to receive the pallet. The pallet stacking support means then retracts to a position below the inlet end of the conveyor and upon subsequent return extended to its position drops the pallet thereon upon a stack of empty pallets therebelow.
