    • A system and method for detaching an extractable unit from an extraction unit pulling the extractable unit in an extraction direction out of a cargo bay of an aerospace vehicle for aerial delivery. The system includes a detachment unit which is connectable to an extractable unit and which is operable for controllably detaching an extraction unit from the extractable unit, a guiding system and a release unit. The release unit is movably attached to the guiding system and physically connected to the detachment unit such that the release unit is movable with an extractable unit to which the detachment unit has been connected in the extraction direction along the guiding system. The release unit is controllable to operate the detachment unit to which the release unit is connected for detaching an extraction unit from the extractable unit.

    • A separating mechanism for releasing an equipment bag. The mechanism includes a base assembly, a removable soft loop assembly, an attachment ring, and a retention member. The base assembly includes a base member, an aperture, and one or more base assembly rings. The soft loop assembly includes a soft loop base and a soft loop. The soft loop is inserted through the aperture and a first of the base assembly rings. The soft loop base is configured to not be pulled through the aperture. A last of the base assembly rings is inserted through the attachment ring. The retention member is inserted through the soft loop to restrain the first base assembly ring. The base assembly rings are sequentially engaged to couple the attachment ring with the base member. The retention member is pulled out of the soft loop to release the base assembly rings thereby releasing the attachment ring.

    • A ground impact cargo parachute release mechanism includes a pair of interlocking release elements, one for connection to the parachute the other the cargo; each release element has a pawl and a notch for engaging the pawl of the other release element; a shear pin mounted in both the release elements shears upon parachute opening and enables the pawls and notches to engage; a bias device urges the elements apart upon impact of the load with the ground releasing the pawls from engagement with the notches.

    • A flexible connection and release device which allows quick release while under load. The device includes a first link; a second link; a first sling having one end attached to the first link; a second sling having one end attached to the second link; a tab attached to the first sling; a grommet contained in the tab; a curved length of a first flexible cable connected between two fixed points in the first sling on either side of the tab; a second flexible cable; and a pin or a third flexible cable. The links are connected together with multiple turns of the second flexible cable which forms a loop at its center. The curved length of the first flexible cable is passed through the loop in the second flexible cable and through the grommet so that a part of the first flexible cable protrudes from the grommet. The pin or third cable is passed through the protruding part of the first flexible cable to lock the first flexible cable in place.
