    • A circuit for controlling at least two power switches that are series connected between a source of electrical power and an electrical load, for energizing the load in response to a signal at a control input. The circuit includes a programmed controller having an input as the control input and a voltage sensor circuit connected to sense the voltage between the power switches and apply a voltage signal to a controller input. It may also have a sensor for sensing the current through the switches and applying a current signal to the controller. The controller inputs the voltage between the switches or the current through the switches to provide a sensed first value. It compares the sensed first value to an expected first value that exists if both switches are turned off. One of the two switches is turned on if the sensed first value is equal to the expected first value. If the first switch was turned on, the voltage at the node between the switches or the current through the switches is sensed to provide a sensed second value. The sensed second value is compared to an expected second value that exists if the first switch is turned on and the second switch is turned off. If the sensed second value is equal to the expected second value, the second switch is turned on. At any of these stages, if a sensed value is unequal to the expected value, turning on of the switches is aborted and both switches are turned off.

    • A parking brake invalift interlock system that includes electrical communication with a park brake solenoid valve. This solenoid valve in a closed position will prevent air from releasing the park brakes. The solenoid valve is engaged to the circuit of the interlock system such that the valve cannot be opened to release the park brake unless the vehicle ignition is in an ON or energized position, the lift is stowed, and the lift door is closed. The invalid or wheelchair lift, referred to as an invalift, is electrically engaged through the interlock system to the ignition system, a park brake pressure sensor, and a lift door position sensor. As a result, the invalift lift control cannot be operated unless the ignition is ON, there is power to a Lift Switch, the park brake system fluid or air pressure is below a predefined pressure setpoint, and the lift door is opened. The system may further be configured to prevent lift door opening unless the ignition is in the ON position. This would be to ensure that the lift has the power to operate.

    • A vehicle lift for transporting a wheelchair passenger between a ground-level position adjacent the vehicle to a position adjacent and substantially coplanar with the vehicle floor. The lift includes a pair of rails (36) attached to the vehicle. A carriage assembly (21) includes a pair of slides (34) that ride on the rails (36). The lift further includes a contact sensor (16) for detecting when the lift platform (25) contacts a curb or other object. As the platform is lowered, the relative position of the slides (34) and the rails (36) changes, the sensor (16) detects a relative position of one of the slides (34) and the corresponding rail (36). When the sensor (16) detects a relative position of the slide (34) and the rail (36) indicating that the platform (25) has contacted a curb or other object, the sensor (16) generates a control signal. A lift controller (60) stops the lowering of the platform in response to the control signal from the sensor(16). A tapered outer portion (80) on the slide (34) allows an increase in the angular displacement of the slides (34) with respect to the rails (36).

    • A vehicular delivery ramp apparatus includes a cargo restraint device which is elevatable above the surface thereof into a position to prevent rolling or sliding motion of cargo deposited thereon. The cargo restraint device is a gate or planar bar vertically displaceable within a transverse slit formed in the deck portion of the ramp.     • A vehicular wheelchair lift with a power controlled safety barrier for physically blocking a wheelchair from inadvertently rolling off a platform of the wheelchair lift during use. The power safety barrier utilizes a linkage mechanism to open or close a roll stop. The linkage mechanism includes a pair of linkage bars and a flexible linkage member to mechanically connect the roll stop to a power actuating device. The roll stop is pivotably mounted to an outer end of the platform. The roll stop is required to open and close relative to the platform according to the relative platform positions. When the platform is in the ground position, the roll stop is opened substantially in a horizontal plane and is an extension of the platform for unloading the wheelchair. In the powered control aspects, during the wheelchair lift transition period when platform is off the ground position, the roll stop is actuated to the closed position before the wheelchair lift can be operated. Reversely, during the wheelchair lift transition period when the platform is lowered to the ground, the roll stop cannot be actuated to the open position until the platform has reached the ground position.
