    • A sealing ring for a vehicle wheel having a tubeless tire with two tire beads that are embodied on the radially inward side thereof. The tubeless tire is mounted on the radially outer side of the multipart rim by the tire beads. The vehicle wheel further comprising a sealing ring which seals the tire radially inward towards the ring, is positioned on the radially outer side of the rim, extends in a peripheral direction along the circumference of the rim and runs between the two tire beads in an axial direction. The sealing ring is configured with a central ring member which is provided with a cylindrical inner surface that is to rest on the outer surface of the rim while being embodied with one respective concentric flexible annular leg which is located on both axial sides of the central ring member and extends diagonally and radially outward in an axial direction from the central ring member. Deformable sealing elements extend along the circumference of the annular leg on the radially inward facing surface and are configured on the end of the leg that faces away from the central ring member.

    • An assembly of a rim and a closed toroidal tire. The tire includes a tire casing and a ring, defining a tight chamber. The ring provides a mounting base on the rim and forms a sleeve designed to rest on said rim in mounting position. The ring includes a protuberance having a locking surface, intended to be engaged in a complementary groove arranged on the rim in order to oppose any relative movement between tire and rim axially in at least one direction. The ring has such a degree of flexibility that a pressure reduction of the chamber causes a displacement of said protuberance toward a larger radius. The tire can, for example, be fitted on the rim, and then the vacuum can be eliminated so that the protuberance will be engaged in the groove.

    • The free end regions of the carcass of the tire form bead regions by extending these free end regions around a bead core. Each bead region of the tire carcass is seated on a related seat or seat surface formed at the tire rim. A first end region of a bead ring anchors the associated bead region on the associated seat and a second end region of this bead ring is locked in a locking groove formed at the related edge region of the tire rim. The bead ring is preferably made of spring steel and may be provided with cuts or cutouts in its second end region to facilitate the mounting thereof at the tire rim. The first end region of the bead ring may be vulcanized into or otherwise connected with the tire carcass. The seat may be formed at the inner circumferential surface or at the outer circumferential surface of the tire rim.

    • A trapezoidal non-pneumatic tire ("TNPT") is integrally molded from a stiff, resilient elastomeric material with particular specifications, to form a unitary structure comprising outer and inner cylindrical coaxial members ("hoops"), the outer being wider than the inner. The outer hoop is supported and cushioned by a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart, planar rib members (ribs) and a planar central web member (web) which connects the hoops at their circumferential center lines. The web lies in a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the TNPT. The ribs extend axially along the inner and outer hoops, connecting them, and the edges of the ribs lie along the opposite faces of the web. The ribs are angled in the range from 15.degree. to 75.degree. to radial planes which intersect them at their radially inner ends, and the ribs on one side of the web are angled oppositely from those on the other. A rubber tread is secured to the outer surface of the outer hoop. The coaction of the structural elements of the TNPT provides a load-supporting structure which, in operation, is subjected to continuous compression and tensile forces as it travels over the ground. Deformation and buckling characteristics of the TNPT are derived from its unique trapezoidal shape which results in an interaction of the structural elements such that the outer hoop is not pulled under the wheel as much as the outer hoop would have been, had the shape of the TNPT been rectangular. The trapezoidal shape provides the TNPT with improved "handling" characteristics in hard turns without sacrificing a "ride" which is suprisingly similar to that of a conventional pneumatic tire.
