The cover/divider includes a tab secured to a body of the cover/divider such that the tab is movable between an extended position wherein at least part of the tab protrudes beyond the free edge and a refracted position wherein the at least part of the tab does not protrude beyond the free edge. The cover/divider has a slit/opening formed or pre-formed therein and positioned adjacent to the tab and spaced away from the free edge. The slit/opening is positioned such that at least part of the tab is receivable through the slit/opening when the tab is in the extended position.

摘要： A three ring binder includes a spine, a front cover and a back cover, each of which includes a substantially solid base plate and an outer plastic shell. The front cover and spine may each include a front cover pocket and a spine pocket, respectively. A tab assembly is slideably mounted within at least the front cover pocket, and the pocket is formed from a transparent plastic sheet such that the tab assembly is viewable through the transparent sheet. The tab assembly may include a support sheet and display sheet. The display sheet may be any type of information or display material as long as it is dimensionally smaller than the support sheet. The support sheet is dimensionally slightly smaller than the pocket so that it can be slidingly inserted into the pocket. The support sheet includes a plurality of tabs, and the display sheet overlies the support sheet and is positioned underneath each of the tabs such that the display sheet is supported and held in a fixed display location relative to the support sheet. A frame may be provided to overly the outer peripheries of both the display sheet and support sheet, and performs a framing function and also conceals the tabs. The frame may be an integral part of the binder or may be a supplemental sheet forming part of the tab assembly.

摘要： A document binder is formed with front and back covers hinged together in articulated fashion with a spine located therebetween. An overlay is provided across the outer surface of at least the front cover and the spine and is secured by fusion to inner and outer, plastic cover sheets that encapsulate a flat, stiff, front cover core, spine, and back cover core therebetween. A front cover title sheet pocket is defined between the overlay and the outer, plastic cover sheet. The title sheet pocket is of a narrow enough width to readily accommodate title sheets printed on paper of standard width, such as eight and a half inches. The fabrication technique employed allows a title sheet pocket to be created for the front cover of the document binder which snugly confines the title sheet and prevents it from shifting laterally as occurs in conventional devices. The creation of title sheet pockets with this configuration is possible according to the method of the invention by first fusing together the overlay to the outer plastic cover sheet along a band of attachment near the demarcation between the front cover and the spine, and then fusing the overlay, outer cover sheet, and inner cover sheet together so as to encapsulate the nonfusible, flat, stiff core elements between the two cover sheets. An inside pocket sheet may also be fused to the inner cover sheet during the same step of fusion so as to form pockets on the insides of the front and back covers.
