摘要： The photocomposing machine is adapted to provide over eight thousand characters during operation. Characters are arranged in bands on a plurality of rotating drums, and multiple character keys and alternate keyboard displays are employed to permit selection of a specific character. Basic functional codes such as keyboard identification, type font identification, and shift identification are used to accomplish drum and band selection. A character position code is then used to locate the character in the selected band on the selected drum.A method of justification for characters such as Japanese characters is employed wherein characters of different size are segregated into two groups. The space available from the characters in the smaller sized group is employed in justification.

摘要： Light pulses in the form of selected character images are retained by a luminescent layer which is activated by the illuminated portion of a superimposed photoconductive layer onto which the character images are projected. Due to feedback from the luminescent layer to the photoconductive layer, the character image is retained for viewing as long as a voltage is applied to the superimposed layers. The character is also projected onto a record carrier which receives a light pulse only when a shutter is operated after the correctness of the selected character has been determined by viewing the character image, which is then erased.

摘要： A method for forming plate characters in a half-tone gravure platemaking process being characterized in that a laser beam moved so that the laser beam is intermittently irradiated onto a light sensitive material and a plate character is formed on the light-sensitive material by exposure. The character thus formed is made up with a character frame portion and a character fill portion surrounded by the character frame portion, the character frame portion being formed by a plurality of intermittently arranged groove-form cells each having a predetermined length and a width which can prevent flow of ink when ink is applied by wiping the plate surface with a doctor, and the character fill portion being formed by dot-form cells which have a shadow-portion dot percentage.
