摘要： A process for preparing a polyethylene composition made from or containing bimodal or multimodal polyethylene in an extruder device including the steps of (i) mixing a bimodal or multimodal polyethylene having a density from 0.940 g/cm3 to 0.968 g/cm3, in the form of a polyethylene powder, with an additive, in a mixing device at a temperature from 10° C. to 100° C. without melting the polyethylene powder; (ii) melting and homogenizing the mixture within the extruder device, thereby forming a molten polyethylene composition; and (iii) pelletizing the molten polyethylene composition, and further (iv) adding a liquid made from or containing an organic peroxide, in an amount from 20 ppm to 200 ppm of organic peroxide with respect to the polyethylene powder, to the polyethylene powder at a position where mixing occurs and the polyethylene powder has a temperature of from 10° C. to 100° C.

摘要： A method of making a sheet of building material, useful for roofing or siding applications, and the sheet material made by such method. A mixture of a thermoplastic resin and mineral filler is prepared, the resin comprising about 10% to 40% by weight of the mixture and the filler comprising about 60% to 90% by weight. The mixture is mixed at a temperature above the melting point of the resin and is formed into a sheet at such temperature. The sheet is allowed to cool until the surface is at a temperature below the midpoint of the melting range of the thermoplastic resin, e.g. in the range of 210 to 220 degrees F. (99 to 104 degrees C.), for polyethylene, at which point it is strained by passing it through calendering rollers. The sheet material made by this process, having a high concentration of mineral filler, is fire resistant, durable, ductile, of moderate weight and resistant to weathering. It can be produced using relatively inexpensive manufacturing equipment. The sheet material can incorporate a high proportion of recycled resin, such as recycled high density polyethylene.

摘要： A laser strikes and aseptically heats or sterilizes the end of two flexible tube ends for connection. Tube holders are pushed toward each other to bring the tube ends into contact. A weld detector checks the characteristics of the weld. A laser optics assembly may be used to change the direction of the laser and focus the laser at the tube ends. In addition, a crimping device is used to compress a single flexible tube for disconnection. The laser strikes the compressed area. The crimping device continues to pinch the area and forms a seal in the tube. The tube is separated into two tube segments, each segment has a sealed end.

摘要： The present invention provides a tubing assembly having a sidewall having a first layer. The first layer is fabricated from a first polymer blend comprising a first component of a material not thermally responsive to laser beam and selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, ethylene and lower alkyl acrylate copolymers, ethylene and lower alkyl substituted alkyl acrylate copolymers, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers, polybutadienes, polyesters, polyamides, and styrene and hydrocarbon copolymers. A second component of the blend is a laser responsive material having low solubility in aqueous medium; and the blend being sufficiently thermally responsive to exposure to a laser beam having a wavelength within a range of wavelengths from about 700 nm to about 1500 nm to melt upon exposure to the laser beam for a short period of time. The assembly also has an end cap film covering the fluid outlet.
