摘要： A method for watertight welding, and components formed using that welding method, wherein the welding method includes providing a first component half with a groove and a protruding ridge located therein, providing a second component half with a tenon shaped to match the profile of the groove, disposing the tenon inside the groove such that the tenon contacts the protruding ridge, applying an ultrasonic power source near the groove to melt the protruding ridge, and applying opposing vertical force to the first component half relative to the second component half, such that the protruding ridge wedges in a bonding seam between an outside surface of the tenon and an inside surface of the groove.

摘要： A pair of half hollow members are mated to each other at mating surfaces to form a resin filling space between the mating surfaces. The resin filling space is charged with melting resin, and the melting resin is solidified. Each of the mating surface has a groove. The groove has a bottom surface in which a hole opens. The groove and the hole form the resin filling space between the mating surfaces when the half hollow members are mated to each other. A wall surface of the groove and an inner circumferential periphery of the hole are equipped with a melting projection, which are configured to be melted with heat of the melting resin and to be solidified with the melting resin.

摘要： An insulated drinking vessel, e.g., a wine glass, and methods of making the same is disclosed. The vessel basically comprises a pre-molded inner vessel formed of a plastic material having a sidewall, a pre-molded outer vessel formed of a plastic material, and a ring. The ring is formed of a plastic material and is molded in-situ on a top portion of the inner vessel to cause portions of the plastic material of the inner vessel to melt and intermingle with the plastic material of the ring to form a non-superficial homogenous joint therebetween. The inner vessel is disposed within the outer vessel and the ring is welded to a top portion of the outer vessel. The ring forms the rim or lip of the insulated drinking vessel and that vessel includes an insulating air space between the sidewall portions of the inner and outer vessels.

摘要： The present invention relates to fabrication methods and apparatus for irrigating medical catheters. Such catheters include at least one section of standard thermoplastic catheter tubing coupled to a section of porous tubing (e.g., ePTFE and the like). A source of fluid couples to the porous portion of tubing to dispense diverse fluids. The manufacturing technique overcomes the inability of such porous material to liquefy and/or bond to most available adhesives by creating a mechanical-based coupling. One aspect of the present invention involves pre-treatment of a portion of a porous material such as ePTFE; that is, a “pre-imbibing” process is employed wherein the ePTFE is saturated with a solution of solvent and dissolved thermoplastic resin. After the solution evaporates a resin-based interstitial residue provides suitable structure that fuses to adjacent thermoplastic material during application of heat, such as during thermal bonding. The present may be used to prepare virtually any porous material for thermoplastic bonding.

摘要： The object of the invention is a method of fixing a outer lens to the housing of a lighting and/or signaling device for an automobile, the housing being provided, in the area of joining with the outer lens, with a bonding groove, a method during which adhesive which is not totally hardened is disposed in the said groove, the foot of the outer lens is inserted in a groove so that it is outer lens with adhesive over a sufficient height, the adhesive hardens in particular to fix the foot of the outer lens in the bonding groove. At least one step of temporary fixing of the outer lens to the housing is provided, after the insertion of the foot of the outer lens in the bonding groove and after any hardening of the adhesive.

A noncylindrical skirt of the connector having a substantial surface area is spin-welded to a mating interface formed on the outer surface of the vessel body adjacent an orifice into which the insert is received. In a preferred embodiment, a sacrificed portion of an upstanding orifice sidewall forms a molten weld bead, which flows in a channel to fuse the skirt to the mating interface.

摘要： A coupling member for connecting a part, provided for receiving or dispensing fuel and made primarily of HDPE (high-density polyethylene), to a fluid line has first, second, and third components made of meltable material. The third component forms a heat fusion joint with the part for receiving or dispensing fuel and has an undesirably high permeability and swelling capacity relative to fuel. The third component is connected to the first component by material bonding and positive-locking action. The second component has greater fuel blocking capacity and higher strength than the third component. The second component is embedded in the third component. A volume ratio of second and third components is selected such that combined properties of the second and third components concerning permeability, strength, and volume changes by swelling are approximated to these same properties of the second component. The first and third components are heat-fusible to one another.
