摘要： A heating element for placing on a pipe or nozzle comprises a current-carrying conductor connectable by means of connecting leads to a power supply. Each of the connecting leads has a terminal contact piece which can be engaged with a contact surface of the heating element. The contact piece can be clamped against the heating element by means of a clamping device. The contact piece rests loosely on the contact surface and the clamping force of the clamping device acts in a substantially normal manner to the contact surface and clamps the contact piece against said contact surface.

摘要： An injection molding system with an electric heater has a reusable high temperature electrical connection assembly that provides a very secure small diameter high current inline coupling. The system is comprised of a mold, a heater, connecting wire to a power source and a connector assembly. The heaters and the mold are conventional and well known in the art. The connector assembly, in a preferred embodiment, has a male portion and a female portion. Each is permanently connectable to two wire ends to be removably connected. The male connector portion has a metallic tubular portion with a first end open for insertion and attachment by crimping or brazing of one wire end, and a second end having exterior threads for joining to the female portion. The second end also has a conductive pin integral with the metallic tubing and extending axially outward therefrom. The female portion has another metallic tubular portion with one end open for insertion and attachment by crimping or brazing of the other wire end to be connected, and an opposite end with an opening sized to receive the conductive pin and a flange. A nonconductive nut with internal threads is rotatably positioned on the second metallic tubular portion, adjacent the flange, for engagement with the exterior threads. High temperature resistant insulative tubing is disposed on the metallic tubular portions except for the flange and exterior threads such that the insulative nut is rotatable to secure the male and female and no conductive parts are exposed. The connection facilitates replacement of failed heaters by simply decoupling the connection, removing the heater/connector portion and replacing same with a working heater/connector portion assembly.

摘要： An injection molding nozzle with an electrical heating element having a terminal for connecting external leads with an insulative connector formed of ceramic material. The insulative connector has a pair of spaced parallel longitudinal bores in which the outer end portions of the heating element conductive wires and the bared inner end portions of the external leads overlap and are secured together by set screws. A steel cap fits over the ceramic connector to protect it and provide the combination with sufficient structural strength to prevent damage during use. A resilient seal mounted between the ceramic connector and the cap also prevents damage to the connector and prevents moisture entering into the connector.

摘要： A power adapter is shown for use on injection molding runner nozzles. The power adapter provides for quick and easy installation (and removal) of thick film resistance heaters on the runner nozzles, without the need for rewiring. The power adapter comprises a series of rings that allow insertion of the terminal end of the heater, which is then rotated into a locked position. One of the rings contains contacts which are at least semi-permanently wired to a power source. To facilitate the power adapter, a novel method terminating the heating element is used. A noble-metal-based bonding agent (such a silver-base ink) is applied to the heating element and/or terminal plate. The terminal plate is then affixed to the heating element and the bonding agent is fired.
