    • A preferred embodiment of a hand-operated flush cutting machine (1) comprises a front section (3) with a first and a second disc shaped cutter blade (7, 8) which are rotary about an axis of rotation (26) and mounted in the front end of an elongated tool carrier (11) having the substantial shape of a flat bar. The tool carrier is mounted to a rear section (2) of the machine. The rear section (2) is provided with a number of components, including a motor (17) for driving the cutter blades via a power transmission as well as handles (13, 16) and a control (25) for operating the machine. The first, right hand side cutter blade (7) has a first side, which does not face the second cutter blade. Said first side defines a first plane (21) which does not intersect any component in said front or rear sections.

    • A powered circular saw blade on a vertical shaft is supported on a slide which is slideably mounted on a guideway having feet to enable moving the assembly around on a building sub-floor. The feet are adjustable to enable raising or lowering the guideway base and, thereby, the saw blade. A blade guard is affixed to the guideway base and shaped to admit the saw assembly to an inside corner of a building room. The blade is normally retracted behind the blade guard but can be advanced to position ahead of the guard as the guard is braced against a door jamb or the like and the slide is pushed toward the door jamb to advance the blade into cutting position. Immediately upon release of the advancing force manually applied, a return spring returns the blade to retracted protected position.

    • According to the present invention, a rotary trim saw includes a rotary drive shaft coupled to a source of rotary power, while a sleeve is disposed about the drive shaft. The drive shaft is arranged for rotation relative to the sleeve. Also, a rack is disposed on an outer surface of the sleeve and parallel to the drive shaft, and a circular cutting blade is disposed at an end of the drive shaft. A base is attached and has a pinion for engaging the rack and an adjustment knob coupled to the pinion for controlling the position of the blade relative to the base. The rotary trim saw may also have a base having surface engaging wheels attached to the base such as ball bearings although other types of wheels would also suffice such as coaster wheels. The base may also include a set screw for locking the base to the sleeve, so as to lock the cutting blade relative to the base or may also include a level attached to aid in determining a cutting angle. Retractable safety shields may also be attached to the base. The shields extend outwardly from the base so as to shield the cutting blade when not being used to cut. In addition, the base may further include an adjustable element for tilting the base so as to set a cutting angle relative to a surface on which the base is disposed. The rotary trim saw may also include a toe-kick attachment having a safety cover for making vertical plunge cuts, the cover removably connecting in two positions to the sleeve and having a locking screw.

    • The trimming apparatus and fixture for holding a PC board prior to and during trimming of an upper surface of the PC board utilizes a trimming blade rotated by a variable speed motor. This apparatus includes X and Y motion mechanism moved by hand grips that are spaced apart and cooperate with push button switches providing a safety control circuit. The X and Y motion mechanism employs linear ball bushings mounted and movable on hardened steel shafts. Removable holding fixtures are employed to hold and retain the PC boards during trimming. One holding fixture is used for PC boards that are not warped and not likely to warp. This fixture holds the PC board on three sides and a quick acting cam clamp is actuated to retain and release a PC board. Another fixture is adapted to hold and retain a PC board that is warped or likely to warp. Vacuum is used with a plurality of standoffs to establish the desired holding plane of this PC board. A quick opening aperture is uncovered to release both negative pressure and the PC board after trimming. A third fixture employs a top plate which is positioned by dowells. On this fixture and in this plate is formed a plurality of receiving openings for PC boards of small and/or irregular size. Vacuum is also employed as well as standoffs. The interior chamber of this fixture is provided with a quick opening lever plate that is manipulated to uncover an aperture and bring the interior of the fixture to atmospheric pressure.
