摘要： A pipe welding connector for joining pipe sections that have been internally coated with a heat sensitive coating material. The connector is arranged so that during the welding process, the coating remains below its degradation temperature. The connector has a first fixture at the end of one pipe section and a second fixture at the end of another pipe section. The first and second fixtures, when brought into abutting relationship, can be butt welded together to form the pipe welding connector. The second fixture is a cylinder that outwardly diverges into a bell and the opposed marginal end is of constant inside diameter and is attached about the exterior of a pipe section. Part of the pipe section extends from the belled marginal end and forms a stinger. The first fixture has an enlarged interior that telescopingly receives the stinger therein and further includes a belled marginal terminal end of a diameter equal to the diameter of the belled marginal end of the second fixture. This unique structure allows a first fixture to be formed on one end of a pipe section and the second fixture to be formed on the other end of the same pipe section so that series connected pipe sections can be welded together to form a pipe line without destroying the internal coating.

摘要： A pressure vessel includes: (a) a cylindrical sidewall having a wall thickness, an inside surface, an outside surface, and the cylindrical sidewall extending between a first end and a second end, wherein one of the first end or the second end includes a sidewall edge that forms part of an outwardly opening weld groove; (b) an end cap constructed to engage the cylindrical sidewall edge, the end cap comprising an end cap edge corresponding to the sidewall edge and that, when combined with the sidewall edge, forms the outwardly opening weld groove; (c) a cylindrically extending backer bar located in support of the outwardly opening weld groove formed by the sidewall edge and the end cap edge; and (d) a weld joint formed in the outwardly opening weld groove and holding the cylindrical sidewall to the end cap. A method for welding a pressure vessel sidewall and end cap together is provided.

摘要： A stub shaft section adapted to be welded to a re-used end portion of a rotor shaft, the stub shaft section including a hollow cylindrical member having a substantially uniform inner diameter and first chamfered end adapted to form one side of a substantially V-shaped weld groove, and an integral backing ring extending axially beyond the chamfered end, the backing ring having a circumferential recess in a radially outer surface thereof. A related method of replacing a stub shaft on an end of a rotor shaft comprising: (a) providing a new stub shaft with a first chamfered end and an integral backing ring; (b) aligning the first chamfered end with a second chamfered end on the rotor shaft, with the integral backing ring overlapping the second chamfered end, and with the first and second chamfered ends forming a substantially V-shaped weld groove, with the integral backing ring overlapping the second chamfered end; (c) filling the V-shaped groove with weld material; (d) welding the stub shaft to the rotor shaft; and (e) machining the integral backing ring away from the stub shaft.

摘要： The invention relates to the field of welding, more particularly, to methods of making welded joints for pieces of maraging steels, and may be used in different branches of machine building. Before welding, an intermediate element is resistance spot welded to one of the welded edges. The element is made of the product's material and covered with a layer of chromium. The joint is fit up by tacks on a weld backing made of the same material as the product. The tacks are made by a manual argon-arc welding by a nonconsumable electrode. The joint is argon-arc welded by two runs of a nonconsumable electrode at transverse oscillations of the same.
